The evening consisted of a screening of the season 3 premiere, panel discussion, and a Q&A with the show’s cast and executive producer Anna Fricke... Attending the event Tuesday was Sam Huntington (Josh). Though the cast was pretty tight-lipped about any of season 3′s storylines, I did get the opportunity to discuss the state of Josh and Nora’s relationship this season, and what it’s like for Josh to transform into a werewolf...

With time ticking towards the end of the beloved sci-fi series Fringe, actor John Noble took some time out to talk with the press, on a conference call from Australia, about his favorite moments and best memories of working on the show. Viewers have gotten to see his character in the past, present and future, and in alternate universes, over the course of five seasons, which is a dream for any actor to get to play. And, Noble promises that the finale will make fans happy and, he hopes, also go down as one of the best show finales in history...

... Q: Is there anything you could share about your time working on Fringe that may surprise fans?


John Noble: "That’s a hard one because we’ve had such a close relationship with the fans. Through social networking and the internet, we have much more contact, and we did go to things like Comic-Con. So, I think people know most of our secrets. Working in television is very hard. I think people know that. Just the pure demand of it can really take it out of you, physically and mentally, but I think our fans are pretty aware of that, anyway. These characters are complex. Walter is incredibly complex. I do a lot of thinking about the work I do, and try to get the rhythms of scenes. You’re always working with the relationships. It’s pretty demanding, but then again I love that. It was just about doing the job, or trying to do the job, properly. It was never a job that you could rest on your laurels. It was a very challenging 43 minutes of television that we were shooting, every week. We really had to be on the ball, and we were working with an amazing crew. A week would go by and I would say, “How on earth did we shoot another episode?” But, we did. Particularly in the final season, when we were shooting seven-day episodes with a reduced budget and big special effects, the team was so polished, by then, that we were able to do it and, I think, with incredible results..."

It has been a busy working week for Primeval: New World’s Geoff Gustafson, and now he is ready for the weekend. Looking spit and polish, the actor is still dressed as his character of Royal Canadian Air Force officer Lt. Ken Leeds as he sits down to chat about his work on the Sci-Fi series, which is a spin-off of the successful UK show Primeval. Apparently, Gustafson looked quite un-military like when originally auditioning for his New World role.

“When I went in the first time to read for the character of Ken, who back then was called Ken Lang, I had long hair and a beard, which I just loved,” he says with a smile. “A lot of times these TV pilot auditions feel like a real cattle call and sometimes you get the sense that you don’t stand a chance, but I felt good about what I did.

“About a week later I was shooting a commercial when I got a call telling me that they [the New World producers] wanted to see me again, only this time clean shaven and with a haircut. So I did that second audition and a few weeks later began work on the show. We had already done a read-through of the first script and seen some samples of the CGI [computer-generated image] that were going to be used on the show, so everyone was really excited, especially with the UK Primeval being such a popular series. The hope is that its fan base will move over to support us as well.


“Getting to see everyone on the first day of work and the reality of the situation was very cool. This cast is so talented and has tons of experience, so you couldn’t help but think, 'Wow, we’re starting something that could be a success.' That was a pretty nice feeling. On top of that, we had [executive producer] Martin Wood directing, who seems able to weave ‘magic spells’ and make hit TV series, so we had all that going for us from day one...”



Primeval: New World cast includes Eureka's Niall Matter, Sara Canning, Danny Rahim, Crystal Lowe, Miranda Frigon and Geoff Gustafson.
