ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT: Kat Graham Previews A 'Powerful' Turn of Events

By JARETT WIESELMAN
January 24, 2013

This has been an interesting season of The Vampire Diaries for Bonnie Bennett, who, despite factoring into the overall year-long mystery of finding the cure for vampirism, has been segregated from the main characters as she works on harnessing her magic.

But according to Kat Graham, Bonnie is about to come into focus in a big way as she not only regains full control over her powers, but could potentially use them for with potentially polarizing effects!

kat_graham_tvd1

... ETonline: And Bonnie's dad is now the Mayor!

Kat Graham: "It's funny, the fans have no problem writing Julie or me or Mark Pedowitz [president of The CW] to let us know what they see for the character [laughs]. They are not shy with their opinions and they've always wanted to see Bonnie's dad [Rick Worthy]. So it's been really cool ... I think I'm the only character on the show with both her parents still alive! Who'd have thought that!"

ETonline: Yeah, well, she might not be for long; I feel like being the mayor of Mystic Falls is one of the most dangerous jobs in television!

Kat Graham: "Yeah, but Julie can break her own rules. When people start to think they're figuring out The Vampire Diaries, it switches on you. Caroline Dries [a TVD writer] said something pretty amazing to me -- she said, if we give the audience everything they want, they won't watch the show because there will be nothing for them to wait for. You can get them excited about something they really want by giving them a bit of it. So you almost don't want to give the audience everything they want, and I love that the audience can't figure us out. They don't know how grand the show is going to get this season. I mean, it's huge, epic episodes every week..."

BEING HUMAN - STARRY CONSTELLATION MAGAZINE: MEAGHAN RATH INTERVIEW

by: Jamie Steinberg

Being Human airs Monday at 9/8C on Syfy.

... Q) Do you get any kind of rehearsal?

Meaghan Rath: "Yes, for the most part when you asked about rehearsals, no, we don’t rehearse beforehand. We rehearse scene by scene as we get to it. And, it’s funny because scenes that are with the three of us, or even now with Kristen [Hager], it’s a relief and a pleasure to shoot those scenes because I never have to worry about them. And just because we all trust each other so much and we know each other so well that we can just trust that our chemistry will be there and that we’ll find a way to make the scene work. You know, especially if it’s a difficult scene or a more complex scene. It’s just a fun time to go in there and sort of put your face in somebody else and feel confident that they’re going to guide you in a way that is going to work in the end."

meaghan_rath1

Q) Can you explain how maybe that changes some dynamic in some way, maybe with one of the other characters now that you can actually interact?

Meaghan Rath: "Yes. I think that throughout the season you’ll start seeing some things with Aidan and Sally where the writers are so smart the way that they did it. It’s like, there’s a girl living in a house with two guys and it was never an option for a romantic chemistry. You know, I know a bunch of you are going to ask is there anything that’s going on with Sally and Aidan. I just know it. I just know you guys are going to ask it. And I’ll answer it right now. What they did is so smart because it’s, like, we never had that option before because Sally was non-corporeal and it just wasn’t going to happen and they looked at her like a little sister. And all the sudden, here she is human, or as close to human as it’s going to get. And all of the sudden it’s sort of an option. It’s like oh, we can do this and it sort of reflects a situation in life. It’s, like, you have a roommate that’s guy and you’re best friends and it never occurred to you before but all of the sudden it’s, like, you’re both single and it’s, like, huh, should we do this? I guess we could do this. And maybe you drank a bit too much that night and all the sudden there’s this weird moment between roommates and I think you’re going to see a couple moments like that with Sally and Aidan this season..."

The Doctor (Matt Smith), after what happened to his previous companions, is in a world-class funk. Or, in the case of this intergalactic fantasy series, a worlds-class funk. Either way, it takes something big to startle him out of his ennui. One thing: a potential new companion. The other: killer snowmen.
