Fringe - Digital Spy (UK): John Noble Q & A

DIGITAL SPY: Q&A: John Noble chats 'Fringe'!
March 21 2011
By Catriona Wightman
It's been a long time coming, but finally Fringe is back on UK screens this week! This season has been a belter, so we can't wait to find out what happens next. To celebrate the show's return, we called up the lovely John Noble - who plays Walter (and Walternate!) - to have a little chat. Read on to find out what he had to say about those flashbacks, Peter and Walter, and whether he thinks the show will be renewed ...
... Q: Do you sympathize with one Walter more than the other?
John Noble: "In a sense, intellectually I don't, because obviously this Walter on our side, he's a loveable old character but in fact he did do what he did. He did take into his own hands this thing of crossing over and taking the son, albeit for good intentions, to save the kid's life. You kind of sympathize with that and then you see he's gone through hell ever since. Walternate on the other hand was a man who had his son stolen, and I can totally understand how that would twist the mind and turn him into a vengeful and very powerful character. So I kind of understand both of them..."
Fringe returns in the UK on Wednesday at 10pm on Sky1.
Fringe airs Friday 9/8C on FOX (US).

Being Human - Total SciFi Online: Sam Witwer Interview

TOTAL SCIFI ONLINE: Sam Witwer: The Human League
Tuesday 22 March 2011
by Bryan Cairns
Sam Witwer knows a thing or two about monsters. He’s probably most famous for his role in The CW’s Smallville, where he played Davis Bloome – aka, the Kryptonian creature Doomsday. His other genre credits include the Cylon-fighting Raptor pilot Crashdown in Battlestar Galactica, and providing the face and voice for Starkiller in the insanely popular videogame Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. He can currently be seen playing the vampire Aidan in the US remake of Being Human...
... What can we expect from Aidan in upcoming episodes?
Sam Witwer: "The rapport between roommates strengthens. The funny thing is me, Sam [Huntington] and Meaghan [Rath] immediately bonded when we met. We not only immediately liked each other but knew how to work with each other. For that reason they obviously hired us, but during the shooting they actually asked us to tone down the chemistry! They wanted to make sure we gave the sense that we didn’t really know each other at first and didn’t know how to talk to each other. I’ll be interested to see what fans of the British series say because that starts off with them always together and with lots of clever banter between them.
As the season progresses, the funny stuff becomes funnier, the sad stuff becomes sadder, and the intense stuff becomes more intense. As we know, Aidan is dealing with the Rebecca situation, and that becomes way more complicated too..."

Fringe - SFX Magazine: John Noble Interview

SFX MAGAZINE: Fringe: John Noble Interview
Fringe is a show that takes “uncompromising” to new levels. Returning to the UK on Sky1 [March 23, 2011] at 10pm to complete its third season run, the show is more daring, more outrageous, more complex and more downright enthralling than ever before. Some might say that having stories featuring two versions of the main characters in two different realities running concurrently is madness, confusing the hell out of casual viewers. But why pander to the lowest common denominator? Fringe has stuck to its guns, and the result is a show that rewards loyal viewers tenfold with some audacious storytelling. And it’s not too late to hop on board. Newcomers might experience some initial disorientation, but it won’t be long before everything clicks into place, and it’s worth the effort.
Central to the show since day one has been Walter Bishop, a guy who makes all previous nutty professors look like the model of sanity. John Noble (you may also know him as Denethor from The Lord Of The Rings) has been bringing the junk-food-loving, pot-smoking, potty-mouthed boffins for three years now, and last Thursday SFX had the chance to chat with him...
... SFX: Do you have a favourite Walterism or strange random action of Walters?
John Noble: “There are so many! Sometimes when I’m looking on the internet I look at what people claim to be the most jaw-dropping Walterism. The one where he came out about the gender seems to have taken a huge effect on people… Mata Hari and her “vagenda”*. I mean there’s so much random stuff you almost take it for granted he’s going to say something like that every episode. So really, there’s nothing that jumps out at me. There are certain things that have entered the lexicon of our family and our crew that are Walterisms, but that’s just natural with a character like him. We have little saying like, ‘Don’t cross Olivia or she’ll shoot you,’ you know? Because in the first season Anna’s character use to shoot about five people every episode. So there’s all sorts of little family things that happen within the company. But Walter’s expected to behave poorly and he does. Although we still get a lot of laughs about it on set...”

FILM.COM: What 2 Watch Saturday, March 26, 2011
... Scream of the Banshee
Saturday Syfy, 9 p.m.
It's a milestone for the greatest tradition on television: the 200th original movie from Syfy. A university team led by an archaeology professor (Lauren Holly – seriously) finds a buried box and frees the Celtic monster, which immediately starts screaming people to death. It's no Sharktopus, but it will do.
In "Scream of the Banshee," when a college professor opens a mysterious and ornate box discovered hidden in the tunnels under her university, she and her students hear the horrifying scream of a bloodthirsty Banshee. Everyone who hears the scream is fated to die a strange and terrible death. Now the professor, her daughter and a few of her students must try to stop the Banshee.

A Daily Guide To Notable Shows
... NCIS
8-9PM CBS
Sometimes I have this Tuesday-night time-slot quandary: Should I watch Glee or NCIS? Usually the former wins out because, well, I love pretending I have a good voice (sorry, neighborhood dogs!) and I have issues with initials. But tonight's NCIS is all about a teenager who may have killed his retired Marine father. So I'm thinking it might be kind of like The Little Mermaid, in which a teenager may have emotionally killed her marine father. And now I'm downright excited to watch. Because I really want to sing along when Mark Harmon tries to belt out ''Under the Sea.''
