DIGITAL SPY (UK): Q&A with Nathaniel Parker
Thursday, June 2 2011
By Morgan Jeffery
According to Merlin star Colin Morgan, we can expect the fourth series of the magical drama to air this autumn on BBC One, and there's a few new faces popping up this time round! Back in March, Digital Spy exclusively revealed that Nathaniel Parker will star in the new run as Agravaine, the uncle of Arthur (Bradley James). We recently caught up with the actor while he was promoting his new ITV1 drama Injustice and took the opportunity to ask him about his Merlin role!
... What's your character's relationship like with Merlin?
Nathaniel Parker: "He's avuncular. He tries to give him the best advice he possibly can. The truth is, he would run Camelot in a very different way if he had a chance. It's not that he dislikes Camelot, he'd just run it in a very different way. It's sort of the old guard - Arthur's so much the new guard - the old guard coming in. With some strength, I think. I think he's definitely a force to be reckoned with..."

Syfy's president of original programming talks about original programming
By ABBIE BERNSTEIN
June 2nd, 2011
ASSIGNMENT X recently got a few moments alone with Syfy Channel’s President of Original Programming Mark Stern to ask him about a few Syfy series, namely SANCTUARY, EUREKA and WAREHOUSE 13, plus the much-discussed THREE INCHES pilot. Here’s what he had to say...
... AX: WAREHOUSE 13 and EUREKA – do you have any idea what the season extensions on those might be?
STERN: They’re definitely long-term franchises. They’re definitely going to be on the air this summer, so I’m sure WAREHOUSE has got as many years as EUREKA, if not more, and the same [possibilities of renewal] with EUREKA...
Eureka season 4.5 and Warehouse 13 season 3 premiere on Syfy on July 11, 2011, beginning at 8/7C. The next new episode of Sanctuary airs Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10/9C.

BBC America Anglophenia: Jamie Bamber Interview

NOTE: BBC America premieres their new Supernatural Saturday line up June 18, 2011, consisting of Outcasts (co-starring Jamie Bamber) at 9/8C and Battlestar Galactica (co-starring Jamie Bamber) at 10/9c.
BBC AMERICA ANGLOPHENIA: Jamie Bamber on the New British Invasion: ‘American TV Has Been Transformed’
by Kevin Wicks
Thursday, April 21st, 2011
... After a stint in Britain as DS Matt Devlin on Law & Order: UK and, recently, Mitchell on the sci-fi drama Outcasts, Bamber may return to American TV this fall. He has re-teamed with Battlestar exec producer Ron Moore for the NBC pilot 17th Precinct, an innovative cop drama with supernatural elements. Bamber plays a Yankee police officer on the series, trading in Apollo's patrician tones for a working-class Irish accent. "My preparation was pretty minimal," he says, "although I did re-watch The Fighter and The Town to absorb a hint of Bostonian Irish."
Bamber joins the likes of Minnie Driver, Ioan Gruffudd, Jason Isaacs, and Toby Stephens in the cadre of UK-based actors booking U.S. pilots this season. We had the chance to ask the 38-year-old star why so many British thespians make the westward pilgrimage each year. And he gives an illuminating look at the ins and outs of the TV business on both sides of the pond...
... British TV’s shorter seasons provide actors with a bit more freedom. If 17th Precinct becomes a 24-episode-per-season network series, you’ll have potential job security but also less time to explore film and stage roles – how do you reconcile that?
Jamie Bamber: "We all would prefer to retain the freedom to pursue different parts in different projects whenever we choose. Absolutely. Even working on 17th Precinct for my trusted friend, Ron Moore, was a dilemma for me because of the six years I had to sign away and because it shoots in Canada. But this was Ron and so I did.
So little TV shoots in L.A. now and practically every TV contract includes language that could demand you move to, say, Shreveport, Louisiana, for nine months of the year. That is very hard for a father or mother to embrace. No offense to Shreveport. But the same is true in the UK. I have recently been offered things there that ask me to spend six months in South Africa, India, Bulgaria on multiple year contracts — lovely places all, that I would dearly love to visit — but to bring up my family? On a whim? Just can't do it. If I were single and childless, I might have made more daring artistic choices but actually I am not sure. In any case I hope to be able to earn the freedom to make those choices in my 40s or 50s!"

STARGATE SG-1 - SCIFI AND TV TALK: Sci-Fi Blast From The Past - Claudia Black
By Steve Eramo
06/02/2011
In today's Sci-Fi Blast From The Past, versatile and talented actress Claudia Black talks about reprising her role of Aeryn Sun in Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars and her early days playing Vala Mal Doran in Stargate SG-1.
For four years, the eclectic crew of the living starship Moya risked their lives battling all manner of adversaries in an effort to right universal wrongs on the hit Sci-Fi Channel series Farscape. Among them was a Sebacean Peacekeeper called Aeryn Sun. A former soldier in the Peacekeeper corps, she felt at first uneasy about having to cooperate with a group of non-Peacekeepers for her survival. However, over time, she came to regard these strangers as her friends, including Commander John Crichton, a human astronaut who Aeryn eventually fell in love with.
After Farscape ended, Claudia Black, the talented actress who played Aeryn, went on to do other projects. Oddly enough, this past summer she found herself back in outer space when the producers of Stargate SG-1 booked her for a guest-starring role in the eighth season episode Prometheus Unbound. Of course, locating the actress in order to offer her the job proved to be a bit of a challenge.
“Apparently, the casting people from Stargate were trying to track me down for a while,” says Black. “They had, in fact, contacted me last year about a part but the timing didn’t work out. When you’re on a long-running TV show such as Farscape, people discover you and want to use you in their project. However, you either never seem to be around or are in the wrong country. If both sides are lucky, you’re eventually able to connect, which is what happened here.
“Initially, I didn’t think I’d be able to do Stargate. When I got the phone call I was in Australia doing ADR [Automated Dialogue Replacement] work for the Farscape miniseries [Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars]. Obviously the ADR work was a priority, but as luck would have it I finished a day or two early. The Stargate people told my agent, ‘If you can get Claudia to the embassy, get her work papers, and on a plane to Canada, we can do this.’ So that’s what we did. Let me tell you, it was the worst case of jetlag I’ve experienced in my entire life. That said, I wouldn’t have missed doing Stargate for the world..."
