DOCTOR WHO - DALEKS' INVASION EARTH: 2150 A. D. - TMC: AIRS WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2011 AT 1:15 AM

Tom Campbell (Bernard Cribbins), a London constable, mistakes Dr. Who's (Peter Cushing) time machine for an alarm box in his haste to report a robbery in progress and inadvertently joins Dr. Who, his niece Louise (Jill Curzon), and his granddaughter Susan (Roberta Tovey) on a journey to the year 2150 A. D. They discover that London has been desolated by meteorites and cosmic rays and its inhabitants converted into robots by Daleks, mechanical invaders from another planet.

While exploring the ruins, Tom and Dr. Who are captured by Daleks, but Louise and Susan are rescued by underground resistance fighters David (Ray Brooks), Wyler (Andrew Keir), and Dortmun (Godfrey Quigley). Gallantly attacking the aliens with makeshift bombs, David helps Dr. Who escape, but Louise and Tom are left behind inside the Dalek spacecraft. [According to one source, Dortmun initiates the bomb attack.]

Wyler and Susan flee to the outskirts of London, narrowly escaping an attack by Daleks, but Dortmun loses his life. Betrayed by a family desperate for food, Wyler and Susan are taken as prisoners to a huge mine worked by slaves under orders from the Daleks. Here they meet Tom and Louise, who have escaped from the spaceship, as well as David and Dr. Who, who have learned that the Daleks are planning to blast out the earth's metallic core with a bomb and use the planet as a giant spaceship. At the last moment, however, Dr. Who successfully deflects the bomb and releases a powerful magnetic force which sucks the invaders into the core of the earth, thus restoring the planet to its human inhabitants. The four Britons return to their own time, and Tom single-handedly catches the robbers.

Cast includes Peter Cushing, Bernard Cribbins, Ray Brooks, Andrew Keir, Roberta Tovey, Jill Curzon, Roger Avon, Geoffrey Cheshire, Keith Marsh, Philip Madoc, Steve Peters, Eddie Powell and Godfrey Quigley.

SCIFI AND TV TALK: Q & A With Merlin's Colin Morgan

12/22/2011
by Steve Eramo

Next month, season four of the BBC's hit fantasy drama series Merlin makes its North American debut in the States on Syfy (Friday, January 6th @ 10:00 p.m. EST/PST) and on Canada's SPACE Channel (Saturday, January 7th @ 8:00 p.m. EST).

In the fourth season premiere, The Darkest Hour (Part 1), Morgana (Katie McGrath), empowered with her magic stronger than ever, summons the mighty Callieach to tear open the veil between the two worlds, effectively opening the gates to the Other World. Hellish creatures pour forth, killing any who succumb to their touch. With Uther (Anthony Head) a shadow of his former self, it falls to Arthur (Bradley James) and his loyal knights, including Lancelot (Santiago Cabrera) to protect the kingdom of Camelot. Nothing will prepare Merlin (Colin Morgan) when he discovers that the only way to restore the balance requires a sacrifice of unimaginable proportions.

The following is a BBC press Q & A with Colin Morgan, who talks about the show's fourth season and his character's involvement in it. Enjoy!

Photobucket

... Q: Where is Merlin at the beginning of season 4?

COLIN MORGAN: "He starts the series in a happy place. He now knows Camelot like the back of his hand and can do everything with his eyes closed. Of course, he's not as talented a servant as he should be, but that's not his thing – magic is his thing."

Q: Does he have to use that magic quickly?

CM: "Absolutely – his magic powers are immediately challenged by the “Dorocha.” They are tortured spirits of the underworld. Morgana unleashes them, and they cause chaos in Camelot. They operate at night and can only be repelled by the light. If you find yourself alone in the dark with one, you’re a goner..."

SHOW PATROL: Amanda Tapping of 'Sanctuary' kisses and tells

December 22, 2011
By Curt Wagner

Amanda Tapping kissed, and now she's finally telling.

Earlier this week I chatted by phone with the "Sanctuary" star and producer about the upcoming two-part Season 4 finale, but before we talked about "Sanctuary for None," I just had to ask about "Monsoon," the season's fourth episode.

And that controversial kiss between her character, Dr. Helen Magnus, and the very attractive scientist Charlotte Benoit (Sandrine Holt)....

Warehouse 13 - 2012

FEAR NET: Exclusive: Allison Scagliotti on Her Elizabeth Bathory Film ‘Chastity Bites' and ‘Warehouse 13' Season 4

December 23, 2011
by Joseph McCabe

Allison Scagliotti is best known to genre fans for her role as Claudia Donovan – the most kick-ass hacker this side of Lisbeth Salender – on Syfy's Warehouse 13. But the twenty-one-year-old will likely soon win a new audience of horror fans with her starring role in Chastity Bites, a film that finds the legendary Elizabeth Bathory (the sixteenth century Hungarian countess who bathed in the blood of virgins) setting up shop in a California public high school as an abstinence educator (what better way to keep the virgin population high?). Scagliotti plays Leah Ratliff, a young feminist who might be the only thing standing in this villainess's way. The film wraps production in Los Angeles this week, but Scagliotti kindly took time out of her busy schedule yesterday to chat with me about her role in Chastity Bites; where she'd like to see Claudia go Warehouse 13's fourth season enters production; and her plans for this holiday season...

Allison

... Q: What's next for you after this film [Chastity Bites]?

Allison Scagliotti: ""We wrap the day before Christmas Eve, and I've got about three weeks before I gotta hop on a plane and head to Toronto for season 4 of Warehouse 13. But in between I'm working with Chris Russell, the director of the short film Zombie in a Penguin Suit and my friend Josh Breslow who produced it. They've come together to produce a web series called Reliance, that I will be starring in. We'll shoot that in the first week of January. I'm so excited to work with them. If you guys haven't heard of Zombie in a Penguin Suit, I suggest people hit it up on YouTube. It's beautifully done, and these guys have managed to craft a whole narrative with no dialogue, and it's emotional and scary all at the same time. It's great. They're really talented..."

THE CLOSER - SMASHING INTERVIEWS MAGAZINE: Tony Denison Interview: ‘The Closer’ Star Heads to ‘Major Crimes’

December 6, 2011
by Melissa Parker

Born the son of a Sicilian truck driver in Harlem, New York, Anthony John Sarrero (Anthony “Tony” Denison) held down jobs as a carpenter, construction worker, newspaper editor, chauffeur, and life insurance agent, but spent his spare time in various stage plays.

With Broadway credits under his belt, Denison made his television debut starring as Ray Luca in Michael Mann’s critically acclaimed drama Crime Story. Time magazine recognized him as television’s best villain of the 1980s. Since that time, the actor has appeared in more than two dozen motion pictures, with Columbia Tri Star’s Art of Revenge, Joel Bender’s Independent feature Deadly, Little Vegas, and The Effect opposite Charles Dutton being the most recent...

... Alongside Kyra Sedgwick, Denison has worked hard since 2005 as the wisecracking Det. Andy Flynn to capture LA’s biggest thugs and hoodlums on the TNT crime drama The Closer, and he has received 4 SAG nominations for the role.

The 7th season of The Closer will be the show’s last, but will spawn a spinoff entitled Major Crimes that will feature Denison and Mary McDonnell as well as other cast members, with the exception of Sedgwick and Jon Tenney...

Photobucket

... Melissa Parker: Now The Closer is ending and Major Crimes will be taking over.

Tony Denison: "Yeah, it’s the same show. It’s just going to be a different title. That’s all. The twists will be that there will be more courtroom stuff when we close a case just like in The Closer. But, instead of it just ending and the guy being led away in handcuffs, now we’ll show some of the cases where they wind up going to the courthouse.

We’ll just wind up going to court more which is something James has been wanting to do for a long time, but realized it was impossible to squeeze all that stuff into one episode. Now, I think he’ll be spending less time on the actual crime and more time on interrogating the suspect, in which expositionally you’ll find out what he’s being charged with, and then we’ll wind up in the court situation or plea bargaining...
"

The Closer airs Mondays at 9/8C on TNT.
