WAREHOUSE 13 - TV GUIDE: Keck's Exclusives First Look: Star Trek's Kate Mulgrew Joins Warehouse 13
Aug 1, 2011
by William Keck
On August 29, former Star Trek: Voyager skipper Kate Mulgrew joins the cast of Syfy's Warehouse 13 in a four-episode arc as Jane, a character who will prove to have a profound impact on the Warehouse — and one of its occupants with whom she shares a past.
"She is a Regent, a very important Regent," says series creator Jack Kenny. "Her first episode ("The 40th Floor"), will make her relationship to the Warehouse and everyone in it vital. And for the next three episodes that Kate is in (9/12's "Shadows," 9/26's "Emily Lake" and the 10/3 season ender titled "Stand"), we'll learn a lot more about how the Regents are chosen, how they affect the Warehouse, and in particular how Jane will have a very strong impact on Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly)."
After Kate wrapped production in Toronto, I chatted up Star Trek's former Captain Janeway from her New York home about what we can expect from her latest Jane...
... TV Guide Magazine: Jack Kenny tells me your character is pivotal to not only the season-ending cliffhanger, but to the entire season arc. And he's hoping to have you back next year.
Mulgrew: "Jack is probably the best show runner I've ever worked with. Full of life and inherently naughty. His Irish naughtiness sparks my Irish naughtiness. When you come away from an experience really connecting with the people involved, it says something about its value. I loved them all. Eddie, Jo, Saul (Rubinek, who plays Artie) and I had dinner at least two or three times. I left feeling exceedingly happy..."

TORCHWOOD: MIRACLE DAY - TV GUIDE: Ask Matt: August 1, 2011
Ask Matt: Breaking Bad, Torchwood, Ringer, Glee and More!

... Question: I was wondering what you thought of the new season of Torchwood. I've actually been very disappointed. I knew it would be hard to top the brilliance of Children of Earth, but so far, Miracle Day doesn't even come close. Although the charming Jack and the kickass Gwen are still awesome, I can't stand any of the other characters. They are all tedious and/or annoying. And where is the witty dialogue from previous seasons of Torchwood? Anyway, since you are able to see future episodes before the general public, I'd like to ask you: Does it get better? — Camille
Matt Roush: I've only seen through this upcoming Friday's fifth episode, which builds to an awfully grim (though for me, not terribly surprising) reveal, and I'm afraid at this point I can't disagree with your assessment. The season's fantastic premise — a world in which no one can die, except the immortal Capt. Jack — still strikes me as an audacious one, but they haven't made the most of it. Seems like they're telling more than showing when it comes to the mass hysteria in the world at large, and as creepy as his performance is, Bill Pullman's serial killer-turned-messiah doesn't make a lot of sense. It's taking too long for the "big bad" behind it all to reveal itself, because I can't believe Torchwood is really going up against evil pharmaceuticals in a health-care scheme. (This Friday's reveal indicates something much larger and uglier is afoot.) Completely agree that the American counterparts are either bland (Esther) or irritating (Rex), and I'm not sure what to make of Lauren Ambrose's giddy Jilly. But we're only halfway through the story, so I'm not giving up hope altogether yet. It does seem clear, though, that doubling the length of the incredible Children of Earth may not have been the best idea.

She's the woman who conquered Dean Winchester's heart in "Supernatural": Lisa Braeden, played by Cindy Sampson. In this interview Cindy talks about her thoughts on the relationship between Dean and Lisa, how she landed the role and what she felt like at her first fan convention...
... Q: You play Lisa on "Supernatural" but you actually auditioned for another role, is that right? What happened?
Cindy Sampson: "I screen tested for Bela, but didn’t end up getting the part. My friends were devastated - ha. A couple weeks later I was offered the role of Lisa and when I read the script WHOA!! The coolest part is I never expected to be in season 5 or 6. It’s been a pretty amazing character to play.:
Q: The fans are very critical about the girls in Sam's and Dean's life and you ended up playing the one girl the fans were actually glad to see Dean start a family with. What is it in your opinion about Lisa that's so essentially right for Dean?
Cindy Sampson: "I think Lisa respects and understands Dean. He saved Ben... so, he's a hero in her eyes. I'm not sure she was SO right for him, but she was there when he needed and she knew HOW to be there for him. Until he turned into a vampire, of course..."

ALPHAS - THE URBAN DAILY: Exclusive Interview Malik Yoba Is The Ultimate “Alpha” Male
Written by ReBecca Theodore-Vachon
August 1, 2011
Remember once upon a time in the mid 1990′s when Black Hollywood ruled the T.V. airwaves on Thursday nights? After a visit with the Huxtables on the “Cosby Show” and a lesson in higher learning at Hillman College on “A Different World”, over 15 million viewers would tune in at 9:00 P.M. for their weekly fix of “New York Undercover.” Malik Yoba became an overnight sensation in his role as J.C. Williams, a street smart police detective and loving father to his 11 year old son. Since then Yoba has remained a fixture on the pop culture radar, from his role as Jamaican bobsledder Yul Brenner in Cool Runnings to loving hubby Gavin in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married 1 & 2. Yoba has also kept busy by producing and directing his own web series “Shop Talk” on BET.com.
In his latest role on the hit Syfy series “Alphas” Yoba has been elevated to superhero status–literally. He plays Bill Harken, a former FBI detective with the special ability of “fight or flight.” The Urban Daily caught up with Yoba to discuss his new love for Twitter, his surreal experience working with Janet Jackson, which black superhero he’d like to play on the big screen and why we need to stop whining about the lack of quality black programming on television...
... Q: Congratulations on “Alphas”—it was the most watched series debut on Syfy in 2 yrs. Why do you think the show has been successful?
Malik Yoba: "I think the folks at Syfy are really smart. It’s very enjoyable to be a part of the show–the cast is just great. It’s a network that really seems to understand its core audience and how to appeal to them."
Q: There’s a lot of support for the show on Twitter. How do you like being on Twitter?
Malik Yoba: "I’m actually on Twitter right now. I’m usually on there through my phone, but up in Canada I’ve been off the grid because my U.S. phone isn’t working. So I have my computer on all the time in my trailer. I’ve never seen Twitter as effective as I did in the last few weeks. People have taken ownership of the show. When people reach out to me, I respond to them and engage with them in a very real way. When you engage with people as an artist you know exactly what they feel and what they’re thinking. We live in a different time so I just think it’s amazing..."
