VANCOUVER SUN: Hollywood North: Continuum finds future in the U.S.
By Mark Leiren-Young
January 17, 2013
Showcase’s futuristic hit Continuum arrived in the U.S. on Syfy [on Jan. 13, 2013] and the future of the made-in-B.C. series is looking bright.
Entertainment Weekly declared the show — about a police officer who gets tossed back in time to our primitive era — a “crisp, crackerjack series” that “deserves a substantial audience in America.” Creator Simon Barry told The Sun, “I’m thrilled at the opportunity to finally bring Continuum to U.S. audiences and that Syfy is the home of the show. Not being able to watch in Vancouver, I spent the premiere monitoring Twitter and the comments were overwhelmingly positive. Now we just need to get the word out beyond the hard-core sci-fi fans and grow the audience.”
The morning after his show’s U.S. debut, Barry woke up to discover that the show was also getting serious respect from the jurors at the first Canadian Screen Awards, where Continuum received five nominations — best dramatic series, best direction for John Cassar, best original series score for Jeff Danna and best visual effects for Adam Stern. Barry also found out he’d been nominated for best writing in a dramatic series for his pilot script, A Stitch in Time...
Continuum airs Monday at 8/7C on Syfy in the US. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE EPISODE TRAILER FOR 'WASTING TIME' AIRING JANUARY 28, 2013.
Continuum cast Lexa Doig, Roger R. Cross, Victor Webster, Rachel Nichols, Alec Sadler and Stephen Lobo.

Arctic Air - The Morton Report: Pascale Hutton Interview

THE MORTON REPORT: Interview with Arctic Air's Pascale Hutton
By Steve Eramo
January 19, 2013
... Currently, the beautiful and talented Pascale Hutton can be seen playing Krista Ivarson in her second season of the TV drama Arctic Air (airing Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. EST/PST on CBC in Canada). Set in the rural town of Yellowknife in the Canadian north, Krista is among the team of workers trying to keep the struggling Arctic Air airlines afloat, not only as a viable business but also as a lifeline for and to the local community. This particular role came along at just the right time in Hutton’s personal as well as professional life...
... “At the time I had just had a brand new baby and wasn’t really looking at any projects quite yet,” says the actress. “However, my agent showed me the pilot script for Arctic Air and said, ‘I really think you should take a look at this.’ I read it and thought it was great. I was really excited about the script and felt it had tons of potential and longevity in terms of a TV series.
“So I auditioned, which went really well, and the producers were very keen on me coming back and doing a chemistry read with Adam Beach [who plays series leading man, Bobby Martin]. Adam and I read together and clicked right away..."
... Along with Arctic Air, Hutton’s other TV credits include Smallville, Flashpoint, Supernatural, Stargate: Atlantis and Fringe. On the big screen, she has appeared in such films as A Simple Curve, Fantastic Four, Ginger Snaps: The Sequel and Afghan Luke. The actress won a Gemini Award for her recurring role of Julianna Vejzna in the Canadian-made drama series Intelligence...
... Prior to Arctic Air, Hutton played the recurring role of behavioral scientist and Special FBI Agent Abby Corrigan in the sci-fi/fantasy series Sanctuary. Her character became romantically involved with forensic psychiatrist Dr. Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne), and through him was introduced to the world of legendary creatures called Abnormals.
“Talk about the opposite end of the spectrum,” says Hutton. “Sanctuary was a very special effects-heavy show, so there was a learning curve in terms of technical acting. Seventy-five percent of the show was shot in front of a green screen, and as an actor your imagination has to create almost everything. It’s pretty wild to jump into that sort of world, but a great acting challenge. I loved that the quirks of the characters and the quirks of the relationships between characters were never sacrificed at the expense of the special effects..."

Doctor Who - The Guardian: Jenna-Louise Coleman Interview

THE GUARDIAN: Jenna-Louise Coleman: 'I couldn't get auditions'
The new Doctor Who assistant on how she struggled after Emmerdale, and why she could be telling bad jokes about dingoes in a parallel universe
by Tom Lamont
26 January 2013
Fittingly, for an actress who last year debuted as a time- and space-hopping adventurer in Doctor Who, Jenna-Louise Coleman is thinking about multiple universes. She recently saw Constellations in the West End, a play that took on the idea of there being infinite dimensions – other worlds in which everything that can happen does happen. Sitting in a London cafe, she reasons: if parallel worlds exist, there's one in which I live in Hollywood and play an Australian in a sitcom, cracking terrible jokes about dingoes.
It almost happened: "Even though my Aussie accent is appalling," says Coleman, 26, who got to the final auditions for the sitcom job, in Los Angeles in 2011, before being called back to England to appear in the ITV drama Titanic. That job opened up a seam of British work – a part in Stephen Poliakoff's drama Dancing on the Edge, a role in Doctor Who – that hasn't let up since. The Poliakoff is an ensemble piece about 1930s jazz musicians. Meanwhile, she has made two meaty Doctor Who cameos to date, including a show-stealing appearance at Christmas, and will be the Doctor's official companion in the next series. Coleman's character is a woman called Oswin, who exists (uh-oh) across multiple dimensions...
NEW Doctor Who season 7.5 episodes resume on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 9/8C on BBC America, with 'Phantom of the Hex.'
Source: BBC
The Doctor is back in a fantastic adventure written by the show’s lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat. The episode - the first in a run of 8 - is directed by Colm McCarthy whose previous credits include Hustle, Spooks and Endeavour.
Later adventures in the run include episodes written by Mark Gatiss (Victory of the Daleks, Night Terrors) and Neil Gaiman.
Steven Moffat has promised us that in terms of Doctor Who, 2013 will be a ‘tremendous’ year and we’ll be bringing you more about the forthcoming adventures soon.

READING EAGLE: Sam Huntington muses on becoming 'Human'
1/26/2013
By Ian Spelling
It's only the third season of "Being Human," but for good reason it feels as if so much more time has passed on Syfy's hit supernatural series. Season 3, which kicked off recently, takes place 15 months after the cataclysmic events of the show's sophomore-season finale. In it, the vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer) was buried alive, the ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath) ended up in limbo and the werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington) tried to kill his maker, Ray, in order to break the curse on himself and his werewolf girlfriend, Nora (Kristen Hager).
"I think that was something that needed to happen," Huntington said, "because the stakes were so high at the end of Season 2 and the cliffhangers for everybody were so huge. It wouldn't have made any sense to start right after the end of all that. The stuff that happened, it needed to breathe a little bit.
"Basically, within that time, Josh did kill Ray," the actor continued, speaking by telephone from his home in New Hampshire. "He wanted to lift that curse for Nora, because he feels wholly responsible for her being a werewolf - as he should. Unfortunately, his curse got lifted, but the part about the bloodline and what supposedly happens when you kill your maker, that everyone you've turned is cured, was not true..."
... As a result Nora remains a werewolf, while Josh no longer is. Josh will spend a good chunk of Season 3 trying to prove his love to Nora, Huntington said, and dealing with the repercussions of his plot having backfired.
"Despite all of the horrible things that have happened and are happening, I'm trying to make things right and normal," Huntington said. "It's much the same thing for Sally and Aidan. Josh had been looking for them for the past 15 months and finally, with Nora, raised Sally from the dead. So she becomes a zombie, and he feels protective of her and responsible for her..."
