Stargate: Universe stars talk about show
November 14, 2010
By Karina Yucel
David Blue and Elyse Levesque from "Stargate: Universe" talked to me about what drew them to this unusual sci-fi show.
Q: What drew you to "Stargate: Universe?"
A: D – The project itself. Truthfully I was a fan of the project and the franchise. I was kind of scared to take the job. People advised me against it. I read the script and I realized it was something I could sink my teeth into and really challenge me as an actor. I work with interesting people and it’s a challenge that hasn’t let me down.
E - I had heard about it, I was living as an actor in Canada, and while I was working, I heard about the franchise. In my audition, the scene was David and I in the car. I read it and I knew what was happening, I felt an instant connection to my character.
Then came the point when I got the chance to read the full script. I hadn’t seen anything like it before; I was immediately invested in all the characters immediately. Robert Carlyle was attached to the show; it just seemed like a win win.

10 Actresses To Watch In 2011
We look at some of the female stars who may breakout in the next year.

Allison Scagliotti (Claudia - "Warehouse 13")
What can I say about Allison “Scags” Scagliotti that I haven't already said all over the internet for the past year? This girl’s unique style and serious acting chops hit me like a ton of bricks, and there are really no words to explain how big she’s going to be. Ok…I’ll try: Scags has a chance at something nearly nobody on this list could even dream of, and that’s resetting the bar for what it takes to break out. Why? Because she’s not just going to be big, but she’s going to be big HER way.
If you need any proof just watch any late season episodes of “Warehouse 13” to see her blend humor and emotionality effortlessly, and add a splash of her own style. Its pretty amazing. If you want to dig deep and see her really shine check our her single episode of “Mental” in an episode titled “House of Mirrors”.
WHY SHE’LL BREAK OUT IN 2011: I don’t think I’m the only one that’s noticed Scags’ potential, as the SyFy channel seems to be giving her a push toward breaking out in a big way. She guest starred on two other SyFy shows last season, and I don’t think they plan to discontinue that policy anytime soon. But if SyFy doesn’t push Allison over the top, she will herself, as she has a gift for horizontal marketing including writing the forward for the upcoming collected edition of break out comic book “Hack/Slash”

10 Actors To Watch in 2011
We take a look at ten actors who may breakout in the next year!
by Sax Carr
Nov 15, 2010
Ryan Robbins (Henry – "Sanctuary")
Never let it be said that the Syfy channel doesn’t keep the good actors around and use them over and over. Ryan Robbins has been in almost every named property the Syfy channel has even produced. From "Battlestar" to "Stargate." He’ll make an appearance on "Eureka" and "Warehouse 13" soon too, I’m sure. Its just how Syfy works.
But for all of his roles in television and movies, he’s just not getting that leading roll that will make him famous on the level he clearly deserves. He’s really worth a watch on "Sanctuary" in a dualistic role as a techy AND a werewolf. Good stuff. He just needs to get recognized for his skills and get some screen time and he’ll be yet another big name Hollywood Ryan.
Why He’ll Break Out in 2011: He’s in more then one movie in the upcoming year, and Syfy is positioning him to be a stand-out in “Riese” if it makes it to the main screen (from a web-only series as it currently is). But with this guy's consistency or credits, its just a matter of time.

David Blue (Eli – "Stargate Universe")
Oh the wonders that are "SG-U" and its deep, deep characters. Every actor on this amazing series deserves a gold star for being in even one episode. The real stand out here is David Blue. This isn’t his first series, not by a long shot. But this is his first role of a lifetime and there will be more. Imagine Jonah Hill but with a lot more talent and a head that doesn’t get stuck in regular size doorways.
Hollywood needs great “everyman” actors like David, because sometimes the Tom Cruises and their ilk just don’t seem like real people. David does something that very few actors can even approach and that’s playing off the subtlety of simple emotion. You should already be watching "SG-U," but if you haven’t started yet, tune in to check out David alone, he’s inspiringly good.
Why He’ll Break Out in 2011: This new year will probably afford Blue a chance to lead the cast of some slightly less genre show or movie. That’s all it will take. Or maybe it will take a little while for America to roll over to Team Blue. Before you know it though, he’ll be a national name. 2011 will be where the pieces come together.

As the girl next door on The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco has brought new meaning to the phrase “Love thy neighbor.” And now that 14 million people are tuning in to the show every week, the 24-year-old actress is thinking even bigger. Sexy Patrick Demarchelier cover shoot? Done. Three movies this year, including a cool indie and a big-budget comedy with Russell Brand? Done and done. New time slot for Big Bang? You bet. On the eve of the show’s big Thursday night debut, Cuoco sat down with Watch! to talk about the series, her love life and secret relationship with a co-star.
WATCH!: Are you more of a heartbreaker or a heartbreakee?
KALEY: I get my heart broken constantly. I fall really hard, really fast. And even when I get my heart broken, I do it again. Like, immediately. I just have a huge heart, I have so much to give. I’m not a casual dater. I like to have a boyfriend, I like to be in a relationship, I want to get married someday. Trust me, I wish I could be that casual slutty girl who dates everyone.
WATCH!: What kind of guys do you go for?
KALEY: I don’t have a type. If you could see the men I’ve dated, it’s like a prison lineup. I love to laugh and goof around, I don’t take myself seriously, and I just want someone to have fun with. They’ve got to be able to keep up with me. The truth is, I am such a good girlfriend! I’m just ready to have a good boyfriend. I’m like the best girlfriend ever!

10 Things You Didn't Know About Brian J. Smith
He's Colonel Young's right-hand man, Greer's partner in crime and Chloe's confidant. And it seems every week, at least one crew member of the Destiny is saved as a result of his selflessness and heroism.
You know him as Lt. Scott. Now get to know Brian J. Smith:
1. When I was a kid we lived out in the country for awhile in TX - we had miniature horses, rabbits, a poodle named Rocky and an ATV.
2. I'm really into military history, and spend way too much time reading about the Civil War, Vietnam, and Iraq/Afghanistan. I'm interested in how war changes us.
3. I've got two MUCH younger brothers - I'm 8 years older than Cory and 14 years older than Billy. I was the designated diaper changer.
4. If I could have any other career, I'd be a musician of some kind - a conductor, pianist, or a drummer in a rock band.
5. I'm not a morning person at all, probably due to years of doing theatre. My ideal schedule is waking up at 10:30am and going to bed around 2:00am.
6. I was a very skinny kid growing up, so I started working out in college to get a little more size and to gain some confidence as well. It's been a big part of my life ever since.
7. I got interested in Eastern philosophy when a teacher had us read 'Zen And The Art Of Archery' when I was at Julliard. Meditation has become a part of my daily routine, and I try to do it for 30 minutes a day.
8. If I could have a home anywhere in the world, it'd be in the mountains of western North Carolina.
9. One of the coolest gigs I've had was getting to work in London for six weeks shooting a remake of 'Murder on the Orient Express'. That was my first time in Europe, and I loved it!
10. One of my first jobs was delivering pizza for Pizza Hut when I was in high school. It was actually a cool job - I got to drive around town and listen to music all day. And everyone is happy when the pizza guy shows up!

Sci-fi Preview: Scoop on Smallville, Supernatural, Walking Dead and More!
Nov 16, 2010
TV Guide Magazine's winter sci-fi preview goes on sale this week, and here's some of the scoop we rounded up:
* In Stargate Universe's mid-season finale (November 30), the team stranded aboard Destiny is finally able to fly the alien ship out of its predetermined path — but that could be a bad idea. "On their way, they find a graveyard of damaged ships from a huge, long ago battle," says Brad Wright, exec producer of the Syfy show. "Unfortunately, their arrival on the scene restarts the fight." Colonel Telford (Lou Diamond Phillips), last seen stranded on a hostile alien vessel, is mysteriously back to help with the dire situation.
