[NOTE: Playboy has two videos at the link: the first video is the interview with Kristen Hager; the second video is a Being Human on-set behind-the-scenes tour with Kristen Hager and (briefly) Meaghan Rath.]
January 9, 2013
Syfy’s Being Human follows what sounds like the beginning of an anecdote: a vampire, a ghost and a werewolf all share an apartment in Boston together. But the supernatural comedy-drama (a remake of the BBC show of the same name) has proven to be a huge hit with fans and critics alike.
Kristen Hager, who plays Nora — a nurse accidentally scratched by her werewolf boyfriend Josh (played by Sam Huntington), is the latest Season 3 regular addition to the cast and our latest woman to watch. We went on set with the gorgeous and charismatic Hager to chat about being scratched by a werewolf, shooting sex scenes and her most challenging role to date...
... Playboy.com: What’s going to happen in season three?
Kristen Hager: "I found that season two was really dark, and I think that there’s some levity in this season, and excitement, and a great connection between the roommates that people really related to in season one; that’s back."
Playboy.com: What’s the most fun part of playing a werewolf?
Kristen Hager: "It’s really freeing, you know? It’s great to just get to play something that’s really ugly. As women, we always feel like, “Ugh, hair and makeup and you have to look perfect,” especially in television, and it’s really fun to just let go and be crazy..."

Justified - Collider: Timothy Olyphant Interview

COLLIDER: Timothy Olyphant Talks JUSTIFIED Season 4
by Christina Radish
January 8th, 2013
Based on the works of crime novelist Elmore Leonard and developed for television by showrunner Graham Yost, the FX drama series Justified is back for Season 4. This time around, U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) will start to unravel the mystery of a more than 30-year-old cold case that connects back to his criminal father’s (Raymond J. Barry) bad dealings. The show also stars Walton Goggins, Nick Searcy, Jacob Pitts, Erica Tazel and Joelle Carter.
During this recent interview to discuss what to expect from the show this season, actor/producer Timothy Olyphant talked about how involved he is in the development of each season, how much it means to him that they have Elmore Leonard’s approval, that Raylan is bound to cross paths with Boyd Crowder again, how each of these characters has their own moral code, what a joy it is to be able to deliver such great dialogue, what keeps Raylan from becoming as crooked as all the criminals in Harlan, what viewers can expect from the addition of Patton Oswalt this season, balancing the tone of the subject matter, and whether he’d ever consider directing an episode of the series...
... Q: What keeps Raylan from becoming crooked, in this town and surrounded by all of these criminals?
Timothy Olyphant: "Well, that’s a good question. The answer is that I don’t know, but so far, so good, you know? He seems to be walking right up to the edge now. It’s fun, watching how close he can get to that without crossing. There’s a fun game that happens in the writers’ room now, where others try to pen down who he is and what his intentions are, or what would’ve happened, had it not gone exactly the way it did. Raylan refuses to get pinned like that..."

SCIFI PRIMETIME: Syfy's New Continuum: A Chat with the Series Creator and Stars
by Barbara Barnett
Jan 10, 2013
... [Continuum], the series, which debuted in Canada last year before going across the pond to the U.K., will make its U.S. debut Monday night on Syfy. Creator/Executive Producer Simon Barry along with stars [Rachel] Nichols and Victor Webster chatted with television journalists this week to discuss their new series, which has been renewed for a second season...
... The future painted by Barry in Continuum certainly looks bleak to us, but the creator rejects calling it a "dystopia." He explained, "I think dystopia is a relative term. I didn't want to create something abjectly oppressive in an obvious way." From the characters' perspectives it's a matter of perspective; it always depends on point of view. "If you asked Rachel's character [Kiera], she would say no. But the Liber8 terrorists/freedom fighters would have a different opinion."
... Asked what will capture viewers and bring them back week after week, series star Victor Webster said, "I would tune in because I like a show that makes you think." The series, he believes asks as many questions as it answers, exploring some pretty important themes. The show, he explained, is "fast paced, relatable, within the realm of possibility."
Bringing in "aspects from many genres," Continuum presents ideas, "relevant for today, but brought through the future," an offers a 'perspective through someone who has come from the future." The series has both thriller and character aspects that he believes will resonate with audiences...

SCIFI AND TV TALK: Q & A with Haven's Emily Rose, Eric Balfour and Adam Copeland

Not surprisingly, the little town of Haven has been anything idyllic this third season. Behind its picturesque façade, the seaside community and its residents have continued to be plagued by the supernatural Troubles. Our heroes, Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) and Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant), have also been busy trying to find an elusive murderer known as “The Bolt-Gun Killer” who has been collecting body parts for his own twisted scheme. To further complicate her life, Audrey is fast approaching the day when, like her predecessors, Sarah and Lucy, she will vanish from Haven.
Prior to the recent holidays, Haven’s Emily Rose, Eric Balfour (Duke Crocker) and Adam Copeland (Dwight “The Cleaner” Hendrickson) spoke with me and other journalists about the show’s third season. The season finale, Thanks for the Memories, along with the penultimate season three episode Reunion, will air back-to-back on January 17th on Syfy. The following is an edited version of that Q & A. Enjoy!
... Q: Emily, I really enjoyed the episode “Last Goodbyes” where Audrey finds everyone in the town unconscious. Can you talk a little bit about shooting that particular episode and, anything that really sticks out for you production-wise?
Emily Rose: "I just remember being really tired the whole time. My husband's family was in town and also my really good friend, Nolan North, who I work with on a different project (Rose and North provide the voices for Elena Fisher and Nathan Drake in the video game series Uncharted), was in town, too, and guest-starring in the episode. So after a long day of filming, you have to prepare for the next day, but you want to spend time with these people in your life as well. Fortunately, our producers/writers have been really great about giving us time off throughout this season to prepare and recoup in different places, as far as a character being lighter in one episode or parts of the episode.
That was the first episode in the whole season that I had to be in top-to-bottom like every single day because everybody was asleep. I think we were filming a press thing on the weekend as well, so I just remember feeling like I was walking around in a coma. But it was really fun to work with Nolan. It's always fun to have friends come on-set. I haven’t been in this business long enough to experience working with people for long terms again and again, which is kind of just starting to happen in my work.
It was a thrill to see that people responded positively to that episode, because you never know what will happen when you take a number of your main characters out of the story for a bit or limit the amount of time they’re seen onscreen. It's a big risk, and rightfully so, because the fans want to see everybody, every week. I'm glad it ended up working out, but I was sure tired by the end of it..."
Haven's final two season three episodes, 'Reunion,' and 'Thanks for the Memories,' air Thursday, January 17, 2013 on Syfy beginning at 8/7C. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE EPISODE, INCLUDING THE HAVEN SEASON 3 MARATHON ON JANUARY 17.

Tonight, the “Big Bang” guys boldly go where many nerds have gone before: to a comic book convention, dressed as characters from “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” (Sheldon makes a perfect Data, doesn’t he?) But an unplanned pit stop leaves them stranded in very hostile territory. Meanwhile, the girls bravely step into the lion’s den, aka the comic book store -- and Amy doesn’t exactly mind the male attention.

LIFE ON FIRE - PBS VIDEO: 'THE SURPRISE SALMON' PROMO - AIRS WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2013 AT 10/9C
Premieres on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 p.m. ET
Narrated by Oscar-winning actor Jeremy Irons, Life on Fire series offers a close up look at volcanoes, providing viewers with a never seen before look at their effect on the environment around them.
Each episode of Life on Fire paints survival stories around different volcanoes. From the dark abyss to pristine snow-capped peaks, spectacular scenery provides the backdrop for the extraordinary animals and plants that have learned to juggle with fire. Each time a volcano erupts, animals have a choice: face the consequences or flee. And because these animals are adapted to living with fire, often they run straight into another volcano and another explosion- out of the frying pan into the fire. Fragile and engaging, these creatures teach us lessons in survival in a world as fascinating as it is dangerous.
Like humans, volcanoes have a natural life cycle: they are born, live for a period then die. Surrounding these giants of fire and ash, natural selection has only retained those capable of adapting to the three phases of an eruption: before, during and after. To give a comprehensive vision of these phenomena, the series shows a number of different volcanoes.
Each film is shot in a specific environment: high latitude volcanoes in The Surprise Salmon. Find out what may have happened when a race of salmon faced the death of their natal river and were forced back to the open ocean.
