NIAGARA-WHEATFIELF TRIBUNE: 'Grimm' by night, actress Claire Coffee picks football winners by day
by Joshua Maloni
Fri, Nov 9th 2012
... While her bang-up blog is funny, Claire [Coffee] is, of course, better known for her acting work on NBC's "Grimm." On the fantasy-action-thriller, she plays Adalind Schade, a "hexenbiest." It's amusing because, for as charming and playful as Claire seems picking football games, her character is equally vain, vengeful and a real witch (like, with spells and everything).
... "I think she's a great villain," Claire says. "The stuff that's about to come out ... she, I've never played a character who has so little disregard for other people and other peoples' feelings..."
Watch Claire Coffee pick NFL games on her website, catch "Grimm" Friday at 9 p.m. on NBC, and stay tuned for Claire's romantic comedy "Holly's Holiday," which is set to debut this winter on Lifetime.

COLLIDER: Writer/Producers Julie Plec and Michael Narducci Talk THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Season 4, the Holiday Episode, and Big Reveals
by Christina Radish
November 9th, 2012
Only a handful of episodes into Season 4 and already things are ramping up on the popular The CW drama series The Vampire Diaries. New mythologies are being explored, characters have died, love triangles have shifted and, yet again, everyone’s future is in question.
During this recent interview to promote the show, executive producer/writer Julie Plec and co-producer/writer Michael Narducci talked about the decision to bring back the actual diaries, what Elena (Nina Dobrev) will be going through now, the hunter tattoo affecting Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen), the need for a human foil, how Elena’s predicament could affect her relationships with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder), what consequences a cure for vampirism could have on everyone in Mystic Falls, possibly meeting the rest of The Brotherhood of The Five, when the other Originals might return, what the holiday episode will focus on, and the importance of giving big reveals throughout the season...
... Collider: Obviously, Elena would have to have a first kill eventually, but why did it have to be Connor (Todd Williams)?
MICHAEL NARDUCCI: "We talked, in April, about what it would be like for Elena to become a vampire, and that very question, “What would her first kill be?” We knew that it would happen in Episode 5 and that it would be Connor, and I really wanted to write the episode. I’ve been on the show a little while and something that I struggle with is that I want Elena to do more things. I want her to not be a damsel in distress. I want her to go out and protect her brother. If Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) is in jeopardy, and we have Matt (Zach Roerig), who’s her high school sweetheart, in jeopardy, what’s Elena going to do? Is she going to wait for all these other people to get involved and save everyone for her, or will she get involved and do something? There were some key moments that I really loved in the episode, like when she turns to Damon and says, “I’m a monster, too.” She is now. She’s dangerous. I don’t think she went into those tunnels with the intention of killing Connor. I think she went into those tunnels with the intention of saying, “Stay the hell away from my family!” But, Connor never gives up. Connor is ready to kill a vampire, at any moment. When he stakes her, she loses it, in that moment. There’s something about vampires. They do go off. And Elena is one of them. So, we have to show that dark side, too, of what it is to be a vampire."
JULIE PLEC: "We also like the idea that, just in the shadow of giving the first glimpse of hope for Elena’s predicament and situation, she, herself, was the one that broke that. She literally and metaphorically killed her hope without realizing it. The consequences of that first kill are pretty profound..."

C. Thomas Howell ("The Amazing Spider-Man," "Southland") guest stars as the leader of a cult that the victim belonged to and wanted to leave.
Additional guest stars include Andrew J. West, Max Arcinega, Chris Coy, Hunter Jackson, Sarah Scott and Daniel Roebuck.
'Swan Song' was written by Rob Hanning and directed by David M. Barrett.

When a cockroach-spread plague threatened to decimate the child population of New York City in the original Mimic, biologist Susan Tyler and her research associates developed a species of "Judas" bugs and introduced them into the environment, where they were to "mimic" the diseased roaches and infiltrate their grubby habitats. TV GUIDE: Exclusive: NCIS Cast Gathers for Roundtable Tell-All!
Nov 6, 2012
by Chris Willman
"This is all just a setup," says Pauley Perrette, walking into the NCIS writers' room north of Los Angeles. Michael Weatherly fatalistically adds: "This is where we all..." Brian Dietzen finishes the thought: "...meet our end."
Not bloody likely. Sure, the series did off a couple major characters in the first five seasons (RIP, Lauren Holly's Jenny), and some significant recurring characters have met their makers in the five years since (Mike Franks, we hardly knew ye!). But the chances of any of these eight diehards going down anytime before the show ends its run are about the same as the odds of Gibbs cracking a sustained smile.
Speaking of which: When we gathered all eight regular cast members of TV's No. 1 drama for a historic summit, their fearless leader, Mark Harmon, was largely the quiet man out. When his colleagues finally called him on his reticence, he swore he was having too good a time listening to everyone else's banter. As you read this unprecedented full-cast gabfest, you'll know exactly what he means...
... TV Guide Magazine: I was going to ask who's least like his or her character, and it sounds like the consensus answer is Rocky.
McCallum: "And also Jimmy Palmer and Brian. Brian's not a blithering idiot."
Dietzen: "I'm not?"
Perrette: [To Weatherly] "I get asked about you all the time—"
Weatherly: "I'm much thinner in person."
Perrette: "When people early on knew we were really good friends off-set, especially women would holler at me, 'How can you be friends with him? He's such a misogynist. I don't know how you can hang out with that guy.' I'm like, 'Do you mean Michael Weatherly? Because he's actually not DiNozzo in real life.'"
Weatherly: "Although I have to say, it's kind of fun to play a total dinosaur in terms of sexual politics, somebody who doesn't give a flying f---. The shallow end of the philosophical pool is obviously where Tony paddles around."
De Pablo: "However, I have to say this, because my character has feelings for you—"
Weatherly: "I'm sorry."
De Pablo: "No, there's something deeper about that character. We always talk about the superficial element and the things that make us laugh. But he wouldn't be doing what he does if he wasn't really good at it. It's a complex character, and that's why people love it."
Weatherly: "I've been really happy about Season 10. I don't know how everyone else feels about it."
De Pablo: "Ducky's alive."
Weatherly: "That's a bonus. And I had a great time watching McGee after he got the initial gut blast with the window shard. I don't know if this is by design or something you and [executive producer Gary] Glasberg cooked up, but I'll ask anyway. It feels like there's a little bit of a new wind in the sail. Do you feel that at all?"
Murray: "Yeah, I think McGee's toughened up a little bit."
De Pablo: "Mark, do you want to say something?" [Much laughter over Harmon's silence]
Harmon: "No, I love listening to everybody! You've got all these excited people at this table. These guys have all done more than 100 shows, and they're every bit as motivated as they were in the beginning, and in some cases more so."
De Pablo: "It doesn't come without work, though."
Weatherly: "Talking?"
De Pablo: "Making it good."
Harmon: "I just think you can't forget how hard everybody worked to get here. Most of the time, shows don't work. If you don't appreciate this ride... But it wasn't always a ride. I'm so clear about how we've earned this. I'm not confused at all. And I'm not confused about what it's gonna take to stay here. I don't think anybody at this table is. I mean, shows all end at some point. But right now, there's no end in sight for this one..."

Fringe sends Walter Bishop through the looking glass, because the J.J. Abrams-verse needs more Lewis Carroll references

... TOP PICK
Fringe
(Fox, 9 p.m., Friday)
There’s so little TV on Friday nights nowadays that we’re pretty much reduced to picking this all over again, but with an episode entitled “Through The Looking Glass And What Walter Found There,” we’re hoping that this one is as brilliant and daffy as our fondest dreams of what it could be. The episode summary also promises “a team member assumes a new role,” and Noel Murray hopes this means that from now on, Jasika Nicole will be playing the part of Peter Bishop. He’s not getting his hopes up, though.

... FRINGE
Fox, 9:00 p.m. ET
Last week, Peter (Joshua Jackson) became so devoted to the cause of overthrowing the Observers that he became a real pain in the neck – or, at least, endured one, by intentionally allowing an Observer piece of body-altering hardware to burrow into the back of his neck and attach itself to his central nervous system. The result? Based on previews, Peter now operates at the same super-speed, and super-strength, as the Observers. But he doesn’t yet sport a fedora.
