CHICAGO TRIBUNE: Celebrity Travels with Stephen Lang
Ireland warms actor's heart
By Jae-Ha Kim
January 3, 2012
A stage, film and television actor, Stephen Lang is known for his commanding roles. One of the stars of "Avatar," the 59-year-old New Yorker currently can be seen in the Fox series "Terra Nova."
Lang's love of traveling began early. "The first trip I recall was driving with my family to Washington, D.C., Mount Vernon and Williamsburg," Lang said. "I liked all of it, but my favorite part was staying in motels. I loved motels when I was a kid, particularly the swimming pools and ice machines. My kids were the same way. I imagine most kids are..."
... Q: What is your favorite vacation destination?
Stephen Lang: "It's very difficult to pick a favorite destination. Rome and Paris come to mind. The American Southwest, Amsterdam, the Caribbean, New Zealand, China. … I love all those places. But I will pick Ireland. I am very fond of the people, landscape, poetry, music, history and the Guinness. Being there makes me think of my mother and my grandmother — always sentimental and warm thoughts..."

Once Upon A Time - Telegraph Journal: Meghan Ory Interview

TELEGRAPH JOURNAL: Meghan Ory is the girl in the hood
Monday January 2nd, 2012
by Glen Schaefer
Vancouver actor Meghan Ory is definitely not the bedtime story's Red Riding Hood.
The new ABC TV series Once Upon a Time is set in a present-day small town (Steveston is the location for street scenes) populated by fairy-tale characters living present-day lives under a curse, with no memory of their story book identities. So Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin, Prince Charming and the Evil Queen live regular lives, and Ory has a plum role as Ruby (AKA Red Riding Hood) a waitress at Grannie's cafe.
Unlike the traditional pre-teen take on the character, Ory's version sports a wise-cracking attitude, big hair, overstated eye-liner and a midriff-baring waitress outfit that is, well, um, it's...
"Small?" she offers helpfully over a cup of tea.
Yeah, that's it, small. The show makes ample use of Ory's leggy frame as well as her acting chops...
... "I wasn't expecting so many butt shots of me," she says of the camera's habit of following her past the cafe tables. "They've created such a unique character and a look for Ruby - she's kind of like a punk '40s pin-up girl, Amy Winehouse inspired."
Her flamboyant look on the show means Ory still has her anonymity when she's off-duty, despite Once Upon a Time being one of the fall's top-rated new series. It airs on CTV in Canada. [Once Upon A Time airs Sunday at 8/7C on ABC in the US.]

SUITE 101: Kris Holden-Ried: From Medieval Hero to Supernatural Cop
Dec 3, 2010
by Iulia Mihai
Canadian actor Kris Holden-Ried opens up about his acting beginnings and sizzling career today, after 16 years in the film-making business.
Kris Holden-Ried, well-known for playing Giles in Touch of Pink, William Compton in The Tudors, and most recently Dyson in Lost Girl, has many things to be thankful for. At 37, he can finally say his career “is in a good place.” He has built himself a strong reputation and is well respected in the film industry. “It doesn’t feel like it’s been a short road by any means. I’ve been doing this for 16 years. It feels good to be in a position where I have some creative power,” he says.
Having input into his work is crucial to Kris, and as an established and sought-after actor, he is now able to do so in a more meaningful way. Not surprisingly, things were quite different in the beginning.
Although he knew he wanted to be an actor in high-school, where he took drama classes, Kris didn’t really know much about acting back then. He liked math, science and psychology, and almost chose a more sensible career in business. At his father’s authoritative request, Kris went to Montreal's Concordia University School of Business, and eventually got into acting by fluke..

Happy 2012! This week, we take care of some unfinished business from the first half of the TV season while looking ahead to some midseason hopefuls. Keep sending your questions and opinions to askmatt@tvguidemagazine.com and follow me on Twitter!
... Question: At a friend's recommendation, I bought the first season of Justified this summer and I really enjoyed it. I keep hearing that season 2 was even better, but since it hasn't been released on DVD yet, I haven't seen it. I can't for the life of me understand why the powers that be would wait until the new season starts to release the previous season on DVD. It seems smarter to give new fans a chance to get caught up and get hooked on the show before starting a new storyline. It's not like they haven't had months to release season 2. I guess I just don't understand the marketing strategy. Any insight? — Carl
Matt Roush: According to my notes, the Justified season 2 DVD is released today, so what are you waiting for? You have two full weeks to catch up before the third season starts on Jan. 17. (Look for my online review then.) I'm being a bit facetious, but it seems the conventional wisdom regarding this kind of marketing is to drop the DVD relatively close to the start of a new season as part of the promotional build-up. But of course it makes sense to make it available early enough to build the show's fan base in hopes of growing it. And in this case, it would have been even smarter to put it out shortly before Christmas, because it would have made an excellent gift. Regardless of timing, don't miss it, if only for the magnificence of Margo Martindale's Emmy-winning turn as the unforgettable Mags Bennett. And don't think about skipping season 3...
