COLLIDER: Persia White Talks THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Season 3
by Christina Radish
March 8th, 2012
On The CW drama series The Vampire Diaries, actress/singer/artist/filmmaker Persia White plays witch Abby Bennett, who abandoned her daughter, Bonnie (Kat Graham), more than 15 years ago. Even though an energy-draining spell essentially left her witchcraft dormant, Abby was still able to work with Bonnie to open the coffin containing Esther (Alice Evans), leading both to the binding of all her Original vampire children, and to a shocking event that will change Abby forever.
During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Persia White talked about how she came to be a part of The Vampire Diaries, how much she loves working with this cast, her reaction to finding out that her witch character was going to have a significant transition, how she prefers not knowing what’s coming next on the show, and how being a part of this has given her a better understanding of the vampire craze. She also talked about what draws her to other art forms, and why she enjoys making documentaries...
... Q: Does being a part of this show give you a better understanding of the whole vampire craze and why fans are so devoted to this type of story?
Persia White: "Absolutely, I get it now. I’ve liked a couple other things before. I liked working on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That was one of the first things I did. Then, I was on Angel. I love the genre, but I hadn’t really seen any good vampire shows since then, until this one. I even liked the first Twilight a little bit. I liked the look and feel of it. I really love The Vampire Diaries because I like the show more than I like the books. I love what they’ve done with the show. I totally get it now.
Also, you can approach parallel issues. You could look at vampires versus witches the same as racial or religious groups, and people who have conflict with each other and don’t want their friends to join another group. There’s certain bias and hatred that goes on for hundreds of years, but it all comes down to family in love. I like that, in this world of mystery and vampires, we can explore things that we might not be able to confront, if we were actually calling them what they are. The friendship, family and love themes cross different lines, and I like that. I completely get it. The show has me into it, and I’m really picky. I’m not an easy sell, and I was really proud to be working on this show. I don’t know what will happen, but whatever happens, I just hope that I can do more..."

LOS ANGELES TIMES SHOW TRACKER: 'Game of Thrones' executive producer D.B. Weiss talks Season 2, DVD
March 7, 2012
by Patrick Kevin Day
The countdown to "Game of Thrones" second season premiere is on. The lavish fantasy series returns to HBO on April 1 with the episode "The North Remembers." And to remind viewers of the complex circumstances of the Seven Kingdoms at the end of last year, the first season was released on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, and it's also now available on iTunes.
"Thrones" executive producer and series co-creator D.B Weiss took a few minutes to talk about the first and second seasons and some of the special features of the DVD set...
... Q: In the first season you included some elements from the second book. Once you start making changes like that, do you find you have to make more changes or is Martin's original narrative pretty malleable?
D.B. Weiss: "Our approach has always been what we pitched to George at the very beginning: We're adapting his entire series. The changes we make, taking something from one book and putting it in the middle of events from another book, are always at the service of the series as a whole -- both George's series and our series. Oftentimes an event from Book 2 will serve as a better end point for a character in Season 1 than it would as a starting point in Season 2.
This year there are definitely things we took from Book 3 and pulled them back a season and there are things we hold off on introducing from Book 2 to put in a later season and there are things, regrettably, there's just no room to include at all. George, luckily, isn't just a seasoned novelist. He's also a seasoned television writer and he knows how the sausage is made and understands the sacrifices that often need to be made in the service of preserving the impact of a show as a whole..."

SCIFI AND TV TALK: Q & A with Grimm's Bitsie Tulloch
By Steve Eramo
03/08/2012
Once upon a time, Grimm’s Juliette Silverton and her boyfriend, Portland, Oregon homicide detective Nick Buckhardt, thought they led your average, quiet life, but all that changed when Nick’s Aunt Marie arrived unexpectedly in town. She revealed to her nephew that he was a descendant of the Grimms, a long line of ancient profilers who protected humankind from a species of supernatural creatures called Wesen.
When Marie died at the hands of one of these creatures, Nick reluctantly took over the Grimm mantle, and ever since then life has been anything but ordinary for him or Juliette. Little by little, the Grimm world has seeped into their “normal” world, and it has not been easy for Nick to try to hide that from Juliette. It becomes even harder for him in this week’s episode, Plumed Serpent, when a case Nick and his partner Hank Griffin are investigating directly threatens Juliette and their increasingly strained relationship.
Stage and screen actress Bitsie Tulloch, who can currently be seen in the Academy Award-winning film The Artist, plays Juliette. Prior to Grimm, she was seen as Dylan in the NBC drama series quarterlife as well as guest-starred on such series as House, The West Wing, Cold Case and Lost. Earlier this week, Tulloch chatted on the phone with me as well as other journalists about Grimm and hinted at what fans can look forward to with Juliette and Nick. The following is an edited version of our Q & A. Enjoy!
... Q: I wanted to ask you first off about the upcoming episode (Plumed Serpent). It’s a big one for your character, and I know you can only speak in very general terms, but I wondered if you could tell us what you thought when you first read the script and your overall experiences shooting the episode.
Bitsie Tulloch: "Well, this script was one of the first times that my character actually gets drawn into all of the madness, and what I can say because it has already been shown in a preview, is that Juliette is kidnapped. The story is very grand in scope, including a fire-breathing dragon. It was really cool to shoot and we had a great director (Noberto Barba) who we hadn't worked with before.
I can also tell you that this episode is the first time Juliette meets Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell). They've been kind of hiding that relationship from her, so it’s a great episode as well in that it sort of opens up a lot more to happen down the road..."
Grimm airs Friday at 9/8C on NBC.

by MAXINE SHEN
Well, "Eureka" fans, this is it - the press kit for the final season of the series, that is.
