With a zero to 100 km-h time of under four seconds, I fully expected Amanda Tapping to blow the roof off the Tesla 2.5 Roadster during our Big Wheels drive during a wet afternoon last week.

What I didn’t expect was that the soft bikini top would literally be blown off as the Vancouver-based award-winning actress pushed the electric sports car to near its formidable limits on our drive atop Burnaby Mountain...



...“I love cars,” admits Tapping, who for 10 years starred in the shot-in-Vancouver Stargate SG-1 TV series and for the last four has starred and served as executive producer of the equally popular sci-fi series Sanctuary. “When I was growing up my dad always had company cars, and my favourite one was a LeMans he had for a couple of years. A2 - Um....that'd be me. I am always the first to break. Always. It's embarrassing. I'm like a walking giggle.



Q3 - Lydia Hartzler - Tomorrow I have to be at work at 5:30 am. What is the earliest you have had to get up for a filming day?

A3 - On Sanctuary, 4am was my earliest wakeup. My usual day is 4:30am wakeup. And I'm perky!



Q4 - @the_h0 - There is so much of the Sanctuary we have yet to see. If you could invent one room what would it be used for and why?

A4 - I really want to see a big eat-in kitchen! Great appliances and a huge wooden table where we'd all hang out.

Alphas, Syfy's new show about seemingly ordinary people with super brains, won't debut for a few more weeks, but that doesn't mean those involved won't talk about their show. Executive producer Ira Steven Behr, as well as stars Ryan Cartwright and Azita Ghanizada, recently spoke to reporters about their work on Alphas...



... On their involvement with Alphas:

Ryan Cartwright: "I think I was the first actor on board. I was having another fun, horrible pilot season in LA... And then this really good script came up."

Ira Steven Behr: "I had taken a year off actually to finish off a novel... And I just turned down TV work for a year... As soon as I was done, I called my agent and said let's see what's out there. And one of the first jobs I went on was Alphas... I just thought the possibilities for a really good show were there."

Azita Ghanizada: "I was the last person cast. I think they had a hard time finding Rachel... I just kind of went in and did it, and they hired me, those silly bastards.... I'm lucky that they were foolish enough to cast me..."

Actor Peter Kelamis has been leading a distinguished career within the Canadian entertainment industry, having recently portrayed the character of Dr.Adam Brody on Syfy’s Stargate Universe, over the course of the show’s two seasons.

With SGU having concluded its run last month and Peter currently in an exciting point in his acting career, we took the opportunity to discuss the actor’s experience in playing the role of Adam Brody. Peter particularly discusses how he related to the character of Brody as well as some of the challenges involved in the role. The actor also shares his thoughts on how well SGU’s series finale, Gauntlet served as an end to the show, his perspective on why SGU was cancelled and his thoughts on the future of the Stargate franchise.

We also learn of how being a cast member of SGU influenced Peter’s career as well as his personal life as well as his message to fans of the show as the franchise draws to a close...



... AK: Back in December, Syfy announced that SGU’s second season would be its last. What was your reaction when you discovered that the series had been cancelled and why do you think SGU was unable to attract the audience needed for the series to continue? What was your perspective on the decision of the producers to have SGU take the Stargate franchise in a new direction, with a strong emphasis on character relationships and survival?

PK: "I loved the Producers decision to take the show in such a bold new direction. It was amazing. There were a number of reasons as to why SGU was cancelled and none of them good ones as far as I am concerned. You can argue time slots, anti-SGU campaigns, the flawed Nielson system, but ultimately I suppose there is no SINGLE reason.

The news came as a great shock to myself and the rest of the cast. I found out, like most of them, through Twitter ... not the best way to find out your show was cancelled. I have to look at those two years as positive otherwise I will tear up and get emotional. I had THE best time, with THE best people possible around me to share it ... I will cherish it always. Not to mention the awesome Fans of the show that I still converse with on Twitter and Facebook..."

Russell T Davies does not look as if he's just back from a wet weekend in Swansea. He bounds in, straight off the train and all glowing Californian tan, guffaw-punctuated anecdotes and booming, boisterous chat. Not that Davies is just about jolly asides and bonhomie. Back in London to promote the UK launch of Torchwood, the BBC spin-off series now reborn as a US premium cable show, the man who reinvented Doctor Who seems only too happy to fight the corporation's corner against a licence fee freeze that will see 20% cut from budgets.

"We all forgot how clever the Tories are, that's the start. We're all falling for how comic they are: the comedy of the coalition; Clegg and Cameron beside the hospital bed. They're fooling us into thinking they're funny – but they're not, they're viciously clever people," he says.

"And who can complain when they introduce massive austerity measures and then, 'Oh, by the way, we're crippling the BBC at the same time'. Because of course we're manning the barricades for the hospitals, the children, for food – never mind television..."

When Lee Adama makes a bid to a group of prisoners to help transport water to Galactica, an unexpected figure steps out of the shadows.

To replenish the fleet's water supply, Apollo visits a prison ship to find recruits for an ice-mining operation. He ends up being taken hostage by the convicts' leader (Richard Hatch), an alleged terrorist. Elsewhere, Adama assigns Baltar to create a device to weed out Cylon moles; and Boomer tries to rescue Helo under the watchful eyes of Number Six and Doral (Matthew Bennett).
