Seven literary characters search for a coherent plot in this extremely ordinary adventure based on the comic-book series. Sean Connery stars as intrepid African explorer Allan Quatermain, and Naseeruddin Shah is the mysterious submariner Captain Nemo. The film lacks the bite and intensity of the Alan Moore-Kevin O'Neill graphic novels upon which it is based. Connery also gets a credit as executive producer.
