STARGATE The Original Movie (1994)

Nerdy Egyptologist Daniel Jackson (James Spader) is called upon to assist in a classified Air Force project near the great pyramid of Giza. The Feds suspect that a huge circular structure discovered near the pyramid is a "Stargate"--a teleportation device that links the earth with another site far off in the universe. Jackson deciphers the hieroglyphic code on the structure and, accompanied by a military team led by Colonel Jack O'Neil (Kurt Russell), embarks on a perilous journey to the unknown. They emerge into a bizarre desert civilization ruled by a Machiavellian tyrant (Jaye Davidson) who claims to be the sun god Ra.

Weir (Torri Higginson) dispatches Sheppard (Joe Flanigan), McKay (David Hewlett) and two scientists to locate and probe a downed Wraith ship, unaware they're like manna from Heaven to a surviving passenger.

A series of nightmares jump-starts Teyla's (Rachel Luttrell) dormant memory of an incident in which she and her father were subjected to terrifying experiments by the Wraith.

Eli (David Blue) may have found a way home, but Rush (Robert Carlyle) believes the plan could go catastrophically wrong. After experts on Earth decide in favor of Eli's plan, Rush announces his intention to remain on the ship and calls for volunteers to stay with him.
