RED FACTION: ORIGINS - THE DEADBOLT: Exploring Red Faction: Origins with Syfy Cast and Crew

by Troy Rogers

Ahead of the Syfy premiere of Red Faction: Origins on June 4, TheDeadbolt hopped on the phone to chat with actors Brian J. Smith and Kate Vernon plus director Michael Nankin and writer Andrew Kreisberg to get the scoop on bringing Red Faction to life as a movie, characters of the story in relation to previous Syfy shows, the potential within the Red Faction storyline, and whether Red Faction: Origins could become a regular Syfy series...

... THE DEADBOLT: Kate and Michael, I want to know from each of you what it was like to reteam on Red Faction after being on Battlestar Galactica together?

MICHAEL NANKIN: [laughs] What a nightmare, really.

KATE VERNON: [laughs] Impossible. He’s like my husband. We fight. Well, [seriously] we’ve had the pleasure of working on many shows since Battlestar. So I just feel so lucky to continue to be hired by this man. We have a great working relationship. So it just gets better and better.

NANKIN: Aside from the fact that it’s always a delight to work with close friends. I never have to worry if I can get Kate on the show. I just know that that role is going to be brilliant. I know it’s taken care of and that my job will be on the level of finesse rather then trying to create something because she always delivers on a very, very high level...

Red Faction: Origins premieres on Syfy Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 9/8C.

Cast includes Robert Patrick, Brian J. Smith, Tamzin Merchant, Kate Vernon, Devon Graye, Gareth David-Lloyd, Danielle Nicolet and Gordon Kennedy.
