He should have stayed on the Enterprise. Patrick Stewart, the artist formerly known as Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, plays another captain -- Nemo -- in this overblown 2005 adaptation of Verne's classic. Five inmates of a Civil War prison camp escape by balloon and land on the titular island, which is inhabited by pirates, hungry monsters and the brilliant Nemo, who has his own evil reasons for being there. Kyle MacLachlan, Gabrielle Anwar and Omar Gooding also star.
