In the season premiere, Elena (Nina Dobrev) awakens after the accident and realizes she died with vampire blood in her system and now must become a vampire or perish. Stefan and Bonnie (Paul Wesley, Kat Graham) vow to find a way out for Elena, but Bonnie pays a horrible price for her efforts, while Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is furious with Stefan for letting Elena die. Zach Roerig also stars in "Growing Pains."
