Though the procedural jumped the shark hundreds of grisly murders ago, the ongoing traumas of the Las Vegas police department's forensics division plow forward unabated, despite the fact that Ted Danson still doesn't seem to have un-stoned himself from his Bored to Death stint. This nonspooky Halloween episode spends most of its time following Nick's (George Eads) quest to solve the murder of a canine-division member, with the fallen cop's four-legged friend as the prime suspect. There's also talk of bath salts and a steady parade of hookers, just to remind you that central Nevada is a huge bummer. Despite its by-the-numbersness, the hour scores redemption points by letting you fill in the "Dog That Understands Only French" box on your procedural bingo card.
