The third season of Justified has seen a superb run of corkscrew-twist plotting. But, as the action-genre adage goes, this time it's personal. The finale captures novelist Elmore Leonard's terse tone and bleak view of humanity, as Timothy Olyphant's Raylan finds some of those closest to him either in peril or in league with the devil (not Devil, Kevin Rankin's character — he's truly dead). All I can really tell you without spoiling things is that Raylan's hat (an item of clothing Leonard has gone on record as not liking very much) plays a pivotal role.
