This adaptation of Albom's faith-oriented 2009 nonfiction book stars Bradley Whitford as the author, Martin Landau as the kind of jovial rabbi who says that believing in God is an "occupational hazard," and Laurence Fishburne as the kind of pastor who used to deal blow. The result is a handsome, heartfelt sermon — but a sermon nonetheless.
