THE BIG SKY - TURNER CLASSIC MOVIES VIDEO: MOVIE TRAILER - AIRS SATURDAY, AUGUST 31, 2013 AT 2:00AM

One of my favorite movies. Definitely set your DVR's to record this wonderful movie!

Synopsis from IDMB, and written by Jim Beaver:

[In 1830] Frontiersmen Boone Boone and Jim Deakins (Dewey Martin, Kirk Douglas) join up with Boone's Uncle Zeb (Arthur Hunnicutt) on a fur-trading expedition into the uncharted Blackfoot territory. The expedition's leader, the Frenchman Jourdonnais (Steven Geray), has a plan for succeeding where no white man has traded before: he plans to return a kidnapped Blackfoot princess, Teal Eye (Elizabeth Threatt), to her people and thus to win their gratitude and trade. Guided by Teal Eye and a crazy warrior named Poordevil (Hank Worden), the trappers travel upriver, only to find their greatest obstacle is not Indians, but a ruthless pack of fur traders led by MacMasters (Paul Frees) and his henchman Streak (Jim Davis). Along the way, Boone and Jim Deakins both fall under the spell of the beautiful Teal Eye, and their friendship begins to crack.

The Big Sky was directed by Howard Hawks; screenplay by Dudley Nichols and based on the novel by A.B. Guthrie; original music by Dimitri Tiomkin.

Cast includes Kirk Douglas, Dewey Martin, Elizabeth Threatt, Arthur Hunnicutt, Buddy Baer, Steven Geray, Henri Letondal, Hank Worden, Jim Davis, Iron Eyes Cody, Frank DeKova, Paul Frees, Robert Hunter and Jay Novello.

The Big Sky was nominated for two Oscars in 1953: Arthur Hunnicutt for Best Actor in a Supporting Role; and Russell Harlan for Best Cinematography, Black-and-White.
