In the season premiere, fans finally find out if Detective Beckett (Stana Katic) survives the sniper's bullets that hit her as she spoke at the funeral of Capt. Roy Montgomery, who sacrificed himself to atone for his role in her mother's murder -- and if she'll remember Castle's declaration of love. Penny Johnson Jerald ("24") joins the cast as Montgomery's replacement, Capt. Victoria "Iron" Gates, who takes an instant dislike to Castle (Nathan Fillion).
