Thursdays are to die for. The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle are all-new Thursdays on The CW.

The present-day murders in Mystic Falls remind Damon (Ian Somerhalder) of a similar crime spree a century earlier. In flashbacks to 1912, Damon recalls a beautiful vampire, Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman), who showed him a whole new way to exist. Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) warns Damon not to get involved in her investigation, but Damon is convinced she's going after the wrong suspect. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Matt (Zach Roerig) resort to breaking and entering in their search for evidence to prove Dr. Fell (guest star Torrey Devitto) is a murderer. For reasons known only to her, Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt), becomes interested in locating one of the town's oldest landmarks. Finally, Elena comes to a new understanding of the path her life has taken, and Damon makes an emotional confession to Stefan (Paul Wesley).

... Playboy.com: What was your favorite on-set experience? Anything embarrassing you want to reveal?

Rath: "Embarrassing stuff happens to me every day! My favorite experiences are just hanging out with the guys. They are my closest friends."

Playboy.com: Was it awkward doing a sex scene on screen for the first time?

Rath: "I had never done any nude scenes before, I was super nervous. I was shaking, I don’t know why! I had known these people for a really long time; I mean, I didn’t know the guy at all! [laughs] you kind of break the ice and do one take and it’s actually quite liberating and I liked it—enjoyed it..."

The No. 1 network has picked up nine dramas, two comedies, two unscripted series and a pair of newsmagazines.

CBS is getting ahead of the competition with a series of pickups. Among those returning to the most-watched network are No. 1 series NCIS and spinoff NCIS: LA as well as No. 1 newsmagazine 60 Minutes. They join previously announced returnees How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory on CBS' future schedule, with discussions surrounding the future of Two and a Half Men under way. Left off the list of pickups are rookie dramas A Gifted Man and Poppy Montgomery's Unforgettable, whose futures remain uncertain....

Blue Bloods: The Tom Selleck starrer has been a solid performer for the network on Friday nights. The third-season renewal comes as the New York-set cop drama has averaged 10.4 million total viewers this season, with a 1.6 in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demographic.



NCIS: The renewal for the veteran procedural's 10th season comes as no surprise as the JAG spinoff continues to be the No. 1 scripted show on television, averaging a 3.4 in the demo and 17.7 million viewers so far this season. The long-running drama, starring Mark Harmon recently marked its 200th episode and continues to be valuable asset to the network and studio, consistently outperforming Fox's Glee in the Tuesday at 8 p.m. slot.



Hawaii Five-0: The island-set cop drama is currently luring 9.8 million viewers with a 2.7 demo rating on Monday nights. More impressive is the lucrative syndication deal the cop series reboot inked with TNT in spring 2011; the Turner network will begin airing episodes in 2014...
