There are many things wrong with this sci-fi allegory about a war between humans and aliens. For one, there's too much allegory and not enough sci-fi. It's also lacking characters as fascinating as, say, Locke, Ben, or even the polar bear. But it does boast a clutch of terrific actors: Hal Holbrook, Clifton Collins Jr., Ċ½eljko Ivanek, and now, Virginia Madsen. The Sideways star plays an Alaskan senator who threatens to spill the beans on MSNBC about a secret prison. Nice cross-promotion! B-
