JUSTIFIED - BOSTON HERALD: Bad-boy lawman

Olyphant comes out firing in second season of FX’s ‘Justified’

Timothy Olyphant has had a year to figure out who U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens is.

Givens, the no-nonsense, Glock-toting lawman in “Justified” (season two starts Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX), sprang from the mind of Elmore Leonard, the writer responsible for “Jackie Brown” and “3:10 to Yuma.” According to Olyphant, the denizens who inhabit those worlds have one thing in common with his character: They’re smooth.

“Elmore doesn’t write any other kind of character,” Olyphant told the Herald in a recent interview from the set of “Justified,” outside of Los Angeles. “They’re just all cool. It’s hard to get your hands on something like this, so when you do, you try to make the most of it..."

NOTE: Justified season two premieres on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 10/9C on FX
