... Heyerdahl does double duty playing the (literal) lady killer [John Druitt] as well as the lovably hairy beast-of-all-trades Big Foot in "Sanctuary," which airs at 10 p.m. Fridays on Syfy. Playing dual roles on primetime TV is pretty rare, but the Canadian actor does it with what appears to be little effort.

... Tell me about his relationship with Magnus. There was a scene in "For King and Country," I think, where she showed some great affection. She lay down next to him, put his arm around her. It was lovely.

CH: "yeah. That was a beautiful moment. That was actually a moment that our lovely triumvirate star came up with. Amanda was just thinking--you can talk to her about the complete motivation--but basically it was a private moment that no one would know about, when no one's looking. He's out of it. He's drugged up. He's gone; he doesn't know what's going on. What is a wonderful little moment that cannot be lived in the world? What's a moment of just gentle, kind, safety, a beautiful--and she just takes him, cuddles up and puts his arm around her. It's just a little bit of what they once shared.

He doesn't know it's happened. He doesn't wake up until after she gets out from under him. It's just something for her and it's the only time really where Druitt is completely vulnerable and safe. It was a beautiful moment.

And for me being in it, because of course I'm conscious--crazy enough you probably wouldn't know this, but I was actually conscious as it was going on--and to feel the emotional power of what was going on for Amanda when she was acting that, it almost brought me to tears as I'm there trying to be unconscious.

It was a very, very powerful [moment]. There's so much going on with her when she was doing that. It was a very intimate beautiful moment and tells so much about those two, about what they've lost and what they will never get again..."
