CLIQUE CLACK: Interview with Grimm’s David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf

by An Nicholson

During a conference call with 'Grimm' producers David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, I asked about casting, competing with 'Once Upon a Time' and the creature of the week formula. I also learned about upcoming Whedonverse guest stars...

... An: Hi. I had a quick question about Russell Hornsby. I love that actor and I loved him when he was on ABC Family. How did you go about casting him as Hank Griffin?

David Greenwalt: "He was the best guy who came in and we had a lot of great guys that came in and read for that role, but Russell was — there’s something really special, really cool but warm at the same time about Russell. And we just fell in love and he — you know, he won it in the casting process."

Jim Kouf: "Yes. He brings an authority to the role which is great."

David Greenwalt: "Yes. An ease and authority. And we’ve got some really cool stuff coming for him, and he’s — his world is going to get rocked by a woman..."

GRIMM airs Friday at 9/8C on NBC.

... Question: ... Have you heard any word about Torchwood? I'm hoping the season on Starz wasn't enough to kill the show, or more accurately, that Miracle Day wasn't enough for Torchwood to die of embarrassment. — Mike

Matt Roush: ... As for Torchwood: From what I gather, Russell T Davies is busy with other projects and there's not much chance we'll get another chapter in the Torchwood saga anytime soon, almost certainly not this year. But like you, I'd hate for the disappointing Miracle Day to be the last word on this franchise, and it's pretty clear that John Barrowman and Eve Myles would get back in the saddle whenever asked. So be patient. I can wait for another Torchwood as long as they promise to make it a better Torchwood...

THE DEADBOLT: Being Human Vampire Secrets with Dichen Lachman

by Reg Seeton
January 23, 2012

Former Dollhouse actress Dichen Lachman join[ed] the Syfy cast of Being Human on Monday, January 23 in the vampire role of Suren, a mysterious character connected to the past of Sam Witwer’s Aidan.

When The Deadbolt caught up with Dichen Lachman earlier this week, Lachman gave us more insight into how Suren fits into the Being Human season as a reclusive, centuries-old vampire who causes upheaval when she returns to Boston’s vampire mix. More importantly, however, Dichen Lachman connected the dots between her character and Witwer’s Aidan, who’s now the leader of the Boston vampires...

Well, it’s sort of one of those I guess love-hate relationships,” Lachman revealed to The Deadbolt. “I mean, they had a very long history together and she’s obviously been in the ground for 80 years."

Interestingly, now that Being Human is back for Season 2, it appears that Aidan may be tempted by Suren as the season progresses. “I mean, they’ve just had a very complicated past,” added the soft spoken, Australian born Lachman, “and I don’t think their relationship has ever been, you know, consummated. I think it’s just this very strong attraction they’ve had...

Donnie Wahlberg & ‘Blue Bloods’ take serious look at crime aftershocks

By Bill Burke
January 29, 2012

Donnie Wahlberg was surprised when he got his first look at the script for this week’s episode of CBS’ “Blue Bloods” (Friday at 10 p.m. [on CBS]).

There’s this very intense situation where (his character) Danny and his wife and kids come across a violent crime on the way home,” the Dorchester actor/singer said from the set in New York. “That was jarring enough, but then the episode takes a turn.”

Instead of Danny Reagan — the cop on the warpath doing things his way — viewers get an emotional look at how a police officer prepares his family for the potential of violence...

... “It’s an inevitable moment for any cop who keeps a firearm in the house,” Wahlberg said. “He has to discuss it with his wife and kids — and for me, doing that scene was powerful.

The episode, and the family element to the plot, left Wahlberg with a new “profound respect” for police officers...

MERLIN - NEW YORK POST: COLIN MORGAN INTERVIEW, PART TWO

January 27, 2012
by Maxine Shen

Last week Colin Morgan, star of the BBC/Syfy series, “Merlin,” talked about his favorite Arthurian legends and why you shouldn’t use the fantasy series as Cliffs Notes. Now, here he is dishing about the upcoming season (beyond the obvious fact that dark times have arrived at Camelot) and how he’d like to see the series wrap up ... years from now, of course...

Photobucket

... The Post: Is Merlin’s friendship with Gwaine what it would be like with Arthur, if he wasn’t the prince?

Colin Morgan: "Gwaine’s [Eoin Macken] a little bit more of a loose cannon, a go-with-the-flow kind of a guy. The big, big block in the Arthur/Merlin friendship is the status issue, that Merlin is the servant and Arthur is royalty and in that time, princes did not socialize with their servants, that wasn’t the done thing. It just so happens that their relationship, their friendship is strong, they have been through the thick and the thin of it all. Arthur [Bradley James] definitely realizes that Merlin’s different, there’s something about him, he’s not like the other servants, but he very rarely admits that.

In this season, though, I think you see the fact that they’ve matured, they’ve gotten past a little bit of the awkwardness. There’s bigger things on both of their plates as well. Sometimes when your focus is elsewhere, your natural instinct, your natural abilities and emotions come out a little bit more. You'll see that they have a strong, mutual respect for one and other. But, I don’t see Arthur going down the path of Gwaine [style attitude] just yet...
