FALLING SKIES - TNT VIDEO: "An Epic Battle" Promo

Watch the Falling Skies on-air spot "An Epic Battle," then tune in June 19 for the premiere of the new series.

Falling Skies opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign against the occupying alien force.

At the center of the series is Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), a Boston history professor whose family has been torn apart. His wife was killed in the initial attack, and one of his three sons has been captured. Determined to get his son back and to ensure the safety of his other two sons, Tom must put his extensive knowledge of military history to the test as one of the leaders of the resistance movement known as the 2nd Mass, because of their location in Boston, Mass. They are constantly trying to gain intelligence about the aliens in order to one day outsmart and overtake them and hopefully rebuild their lives.

Moon Bloodgood (Terminator Salvation) co-stars as Anne Glass, a pediatrician who works with the surviving children to help them cope with the traumatic upheaval in their lives. Will Patton (Armageddon, TNT's Into the West) plays a fierce leader of the resistance, Weaver. The series also stars Drew Roy (Secretariat) as Hal, Tom's oldest son and a growing fighter in the resistance movement; Maxim Knight (Brothers & Sisters) as Matt, Tom's youngest son; Connor Jessup (The Saddle Club) as Ben, Tom's son who was captured by aliens; and Seychelle Gabriel (Weeds) as Lourdes, an orphaned teenager who helps Anne in the group's makeshift medical clinic. Colin Cunningham (Living in Your Car) is John Pope, the leader of an outlaw motorcycle gang and Sarah Carter (Shark) is Margaret, a wary survivor of Pope's gang.

FALLING SKIES focuses on the resilience of the survivors and their determination to maintain their humanity when all else has been destroyed. It is a tale of endurance, commitment and courage in which everyday people are called upon to become heroes. They may be outmatched, outnumbered and outgunned, but nothing can beat the human spirit. Most of all, the series is about the ties that bind people together in the most difficult of circumstances.

The aliens in the series are mighty, mysterious and merciless. They are highly intelligent and use military-like tactics, which makes them an overwhelming force against the 2nd Mass. There are two types of aliens that the human survivors have named Skitters and Mechs. Combining live action and special visual effects, the Skitters have spider-like bodies and incredible strength and agility. The deadly, robotic Mechs stand upright and can shoot bullets from their arms. The aliens control captured children, like Tom's son Ben, through bio-mechanical harnesses but have yet to reveal their ultimate plan for them.

FALLING SKIES is executive-produced by Steven Spielberg, along with DreamWorks Television heads Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, Graham Yost (Justified, The Pacific) and screenwriter Robert Rodat. Rodat, who earned an Oscar® nomination for his screenplay for Saving Private Ryan, wrote the pilot from an idea he co-conceived with Spielberg. Mark Verheiden (Heroes, Battlestar Galactica) and Greg Beeman (Heroes, Smallville) are co-executive producers. The pilot was directed by Carl Franklin (One False Move, Out of Time).

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: 'Bones': David Boreanaz talks next week's blizzard episode, that memorable bar scene, and the missing Cocky belt buckle -- EXCLUSIVE

by Mandi Bierly
Mar 11 2011

There will be a blackout on Bones next Thursday, but if the promo for the March 17 episode is any indication, there will still be plenty of electricity between Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel). They get stuck together in an elevator with seats from Philadelphia’s imploded Veterans Stadium, where Booth used to go to games with his father.

Boreanaz, who also takes his fourth turn in the director’s chair for the Fox drama, is happy to give EW the set-up: ”At the start of the episode, these guys are dumping the seats in the middle of this snowstorm, and I’m like, Bank! Bank! Bank! ‘Get the seats and bring ‘em up to the apartment.’ I’m like a little kid in a candy store. I convince Bones and Sweets [John Francis Daley] to lend a hand and help me carry these things that weigh like 8,000 pounds through the snow, up the stairs, and into grandmother’s house we go — the elevator. We jam them in the elevator, the elevator door closes, and a quarter of the way up, the power goes out, and Bones and I are stuck in there for almost half a day,” he says. “That’s where they kinda come to grips with their relationship, and he pulls out a ring and says, ‘Will you marry me, please?’ No.” (That was funny but cruel. “It is, right?” he says, still laughing...)

This re-imagined version of the same-titled hit Brit series follows three twenty-something Bostonians as they navigate the demands of contemporary urban life, which in their case is just a wee bit harder due to certain existential complications: one’s a ghost, one’s a vampire, and one’s a werewolf. And you thought you had angst! The metaphorical possibilities are endless, and the series has won praise for explicating the humanity of its characters, in addition to their preternatural qualities. Among its fans is the Atlantic’s Alyssa Rosenberg, who lauds the series as a “sharp, charming twist on the supernatural that also deftly explores that most important of twenty-something relationships, being roommates.”

WET PAINT: Exclusive: TJ Thyne Is Single and Ready to Mingle!

by Ian Spiegelman
March 11, 2011

What does Bones star TJ Thyne do when he’s not working? From the sound of it, that never happens! But TJ — who plays “Bugs and Slime” specialist Dr. Jack Hodgins on the hit Fox series when he’s not making short films of his own — still found some time to tell us about the future of the show, his perfect woman, and the complete contents of Hodgins’s iPod in this exclusive Wetpaint email interview...

... WP: Will we ever learn more about Hodgins's past and where his money comes from?

TJ: "Oh man, I hope so! I've been wanting to see this for six seasons now! I'd LOVE to learn all about what happened to Jack's parents, how they died, how he was left zillions of dollars, and just a taste of what he does with all that money. I like that he has all that cash and doesn't abuse it. The not-so-secret-anymore-secret-billionaire-dozens-of-times-over is oh-so-fun to play. But where's the Wayne Mansion and hidden lair of toys and cars and things! [Series creator] Hart [Hanson] has told me on several occasions that we will never see Jack's mansion he grew up in — and currently still lives in with Angela [Michaela Conlin] — because it's WAY too large and WAY too expensive for us to ever show. Which actually is a lot of fun, forcing the audience to have to imagine how grand it really is, so everyone has their own vision of what that looks like. Remember Zack's [Eric Millegan] simple description when Angela first confronts Zack about Jack's money? Angela: Aren't you his roommate? Zack: Roommate? I live above the garage across the pond and the tennis courts from the main house. Booth: How many cars does he have in that garage? Zack: Including the antique ones?

In a recent episode, Angela was dreaming about having a home that was... more quaint and average so their kid could have a "real" life, not one that would make the cast of Silver Spoons blush. So Jack bought her the house she wanted. I think we will see that home more in seasons to come. (Oooh, I like saying "Seasons to come!" Let's make that happen for sure! Heehee.) As for the tale of Jack's history, I'll keep crossing my fingers we get to see it. Oh, and here's hoping it’s really dark, dramatic, scary, and sad all rolled in to one!..."

Bones airs on Thursday at 9/8C on FOX
