... Battle of Los Angeles
9:00 PM, SYFY
We're sure that Syfy would hate it, absolutely hate it, if viewers accidentally confused this new sci-fi thriller about humans banding together to fight an extraterrestrial invasion with a certain big-budget, big-screen movie ("Battle: Los Angeles") that just opened with a suspiciously similar title and story line. For those keeping track, this one stars Kel Mitchell, Nia Peeples and Dylan Vox.

SHOW PATROL: Good or bad, Walton Goggins' 'Justified' character surprises even him
By Curt Wagner
March 9, 2011
Walton Goggins can cast a spell over you during a phone conversation just as easily as he does playing the magnetic Boyd Crowder in FX’s "Justified.”
He puts everything out there—even when doing an interview at the end of an early morning shoot after he’s been up the night before with his new son, Augustus Somerset. It’s hard not to be drawn in by his zeal for the work he’s doing.
“It’s always exciting,” he said, answering a simple “how’s it going?” “One should be so lucky to be in this situation that I’m in, or any other person on television [is in], who really cares about what they do every day.”
The former "The Shield" star definitely cares, and that translates to “Justified” (9 p.m. Wednesdays, FX), where his mercurial character continues to trouble U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), the childhood friend who just can’t trust Boyd, even if he claims his outlaw days are behind him.
Since last year’s freshman season, Boyd has gone from white supremacist criminal to born-again evangelist to leader of the disenfranchised to disillusioned ex-con. He’s about to change again, Goggins teased.
“I think that he has been without the ability to see himself as good or bad, and through the course of this season, he will acquire a pair of glasses that allows him to see himself really for the first time,” Goggins said, adding with a laugh, “How about that for a quote? Come on, Curt!”
Goggins talked more about working with Olyphant ("like doing a waltz"), being a father and how cool it would be to see Boyd wearing a marshal's star...
... Do you think at the beginning of the season he [Boyd Crowder] was simply bent out of shape about his father being killed, or was something else troubling him?
Walton Coggins: "I think he’s bent out of shape over the fact that his father was killed and 18 men of his were killed. Also his faith in a religious institution, with God as the CEO, [was shaken]. He was fighting a righteous fight and he wasn’t rewarded for that. To a religious zealot as deep as Boyd had become, to go down that path only to have that path illuminated with a different light [and learn] that things don’t always work out in the way that you expect, that really rattled him. [It] really debased his fundamental belief in the world. He was able to grasp religion and find order in the universe through religion. Once that was taken out and the rug was pulled out from underneath him, well, he’s directionless. He’s just wandering. He will find his direction again, in a different way..."

ASSIGNMENT X: Exclusive Interview: David Boreanaz digs BONES
The actor talks plot, tone and a new movie
By ABBIE BERNSTEIN / Contributing Writer
Posted: March 10th, 2011
Poor Seeley Booth. Sure, the BONES FBI special agent and former military sharpshooter played by David Boreanaz is at the top of his game as a lawman, but when it comes to love, he faces one setback after another. At the end of Season Five, he wanted to make a go of it with Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan, played by Emily Deschanel, but the thought of that kind of intimacy with her good friend and partner frightened her.
Between seasons, Booth fell for globe-trotting ace journalist Hannah Burley (Katheryn Winnick), and this season, the two moved in together, but the romance fell apart when Booth proposed marriage and Hannah declined. Now Booth is defiantly single again, embracing his professional partnership with Brennan (who has acknowledged she may want something more, but Booth is now gun-shy) and tracking a sniper (THE MUMMY’s Arnold Vosloo) with ties to Booth’s past.
Boreanaz, who is also a producer and director on the hit Fox series, sat down to talk about the current season of BONES...
... ASSIGNMENT X: Is Season Six going as you hoped it would?
DAVID BOREANAZ: Yeah, I think it’s going better than I thought it would. I went into the season pretty much hoping for the best on all levels, and it’s pleasantly surprised me. I think the writing’s been very strong, I think the relationship has been very interesting and the fact that it’s not very heavy B and B [Brennan and Booth] right now, they were kind of separated with the triangle with the relationship with [Hannah], I think it’s good, because we can always go back to good old-fashioned B and B cases, which is what the show is about. but we’ve done some great shows and I’ve enjoyed directing so far, I’ve had one [episode, “The Bullet in the Brain,” which aired January 27] out after the premiere of the second half, I’m doing another one, so I’ve really enjoyed that aspect of it. It’s busy, it’s a lot of work, but I like the way the characters are unfolding. I’m happy with it...

Being Human - Poptimal: Sam Witwer Interview

POPTIMAL: Being Human Interview: Sit Down With Sam Witwer
March 11, 2011 by Josh Hatala
Being Human, Syfy’s re-imagining of the BBC series of the same name, has proven to be equal parts a faithful adaptation and a slew of welcome surprises. First approaching with caution, fans now openly embrace the series, which stands on its own. The premise follows three twenty-something roommates living in Boston—with the added bonus of being a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire—trying to maintain a normal life amid their supernatural circumstances.
Sam Witwer (Smallville, Battlestar Galactica) plays Aidan, a 257-year-old vampire who constantly struggles against ever present bloodlust to keep clean of his formal lifestyle. I had the chance to chat with Witwer about balancing the many sides of Aidan, whether or not he’s seen the British parent series, and what’s coming up as the season winds down...
... Aidan goes through so many shifts in each episode. One minute he’s this feral, hunter vampire and the next he’s battling his addiction, then the protective older brother to Sally and supportive best friend to Josh. What are your favorite parts of Aidan to play? How do you relate to a character with so much going on?
Sam Witwer: "It’s actually a wonderful thing about this character and it’s part of the reason why I felt so foolish to have thought to turn this down for a moment, because this is an irresistible character. I really, really love playing him and I love the fact that he goes through some major stuff but still, at the same time, there’s some room for levity. That’s just something I haven’t had a chance to do that much, to keep certain things light and have funny moments. I’m frequently impressed with how Anna Fricke and Jeremy Carver can fit humor in situations that I would think might be too grim or serious to have a humor or that the humor would undercut the drama of the situation, and that’s just not the case on this show. I’m very grateful the tone we established and their intent and their talent in terms of these scripts has been so consistent. In terms of the character, it’s really wonderful. I really like the funnier moments, those are a lot of fun to play. At the same time, the character is kind of the dramatic, grounding force of the show. He’s kind of the glue for the three roommates and he really anchors the show in this place. Sam Huntington goes off and him and Meaghan make it a really fun show. I really do enjoy the character and there’s a lot of challenges in terms of trying to figure out how to play this. Essentially, the biggest concern for me is we’re talking about the metaphor of drug addiction. That’s my thing, if we’re talking about real things, and the audience will relate. If we’re just talking about genre things, some people will enjoy that but others won’t necessarily. I think so long as science fiction is thoughtful, and genre stuff is really anchored in some form of reality, you’re doing something about the human condition, then we’re good to go. Thankfully, throughout the entire first season, we hit that pretty hard..."
