January 2012
by Tanya Sarikaya
As her acting debut young actress Maisie Williams plays Arya Stark on the HBO fantasy drama "Game of Thrones" which is based on the fantasy saga by George R. R. Martin. In this interview Maisie talks about how she settled in, how she experiences working on set with her co-stars and what she likes most about her work...
... Q: Playing the part of Arya Stark on "Game of Thrones" is your acting debut. What was it like when you found yourself in front a camera and for a huge HBO production no less?
Maisie Williams: "It was a bit scary but also exciting. Everything was so new and different; but I soon settled in and got to know everyone. It really is great fun! The whole thing is filmed out of sequence and my first scene was standing on one leg on the stairs in Kings Landing with Sean but he was really nice."
... Q: You've had a lot of swordplay scenes. Was it hard learning the choreography or did you enjoy it?
Maisie Williams: "I really enjoyed the choreography for the sword fighting scenes. As a dancer I am used to having to learn dance routines and this was very much like that, Miltos [Yerolemou] (Syrio Forel) and Buster [Reeves] (assistant stunt coordinator ) were great to work with. It was tiring but I was happy with the end result..."
Game of Thrones season two premieres Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 9/8C on HBO.
