Over five topsy-turvy seasons, Fringe pursued an inspiring vision for sci-fi drama by taking as its subject the rehumanization of an increasingly tech-crazed robo-soulless world. The series finale turns this theme into apocalyptic conflict, as Olivia (Anna Torv), Peter (Joshua Jackson), and Walter (John Noble) try to save humankind from an oppressive plague of emotionally challenged supermen known as the Observers, not by exterminating these pasty-faced Frankensteins but by convincing them they could be so much more.
