It’s closing time at the genius bar.
Syfy’s drama-comedy “Eureka” wraps after five seasons tomorrow. Series co-creator and executive producer Jaime Paglia has scripted a finale that manages to be both epic and intimate, frantic and tender, and brings back many familiar faces, including (but not limited to) Jordan Hinson as the sheriff’s brainiac daughter Zoe, Debrah Farentino as the sinister Beverly, Matt Frewer as the “biological containment specialist” (OK, dog-catcher) Taggart and Wil Wheaton as the hilariously anal-retentive Dr. Isaac Parrish.
In what might be a first for any series, Paglia works in several shots at the network that pre-maturely canned his baby. Syfy infamously reneged on a season-six agreement, to fans’ distress. In fairness, the network did find within its decrepit heart the cash to permit this closer, so please do set down any phasers, tasers, genome disrupters and whatever other weapons you might be holding...
Eureka SERIES finale airs Monday, July 16, 2012 at 9/8C on Syfy.
