To Infinity and Beyond: Buzz Lightyear's Journey to the Smithsonian

This presentation was recorded on Thursday, March 29, 2012 in the "Moving Beyond Earth" gallery at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.

MOVING BEYOND EARTH GALLERY

The National Air and Space Museum will receive a Buzz Lightyear action figure that traveled in space along with educational material related to its mission.

The Buzz Lightyear figure, lightened and sealed by NASA for spaceflight safety and weight concerns, flew into space aboard STS-124 on Discovery, and returned from space aboard STS-128, also aboard Discovery. In the meantime, the figure was used by the astronauts of ISS Expeditions 18, 19 and 20 to perform educational demonstrations—and, occasionally, to have a little fun on the side.
