Defense attorney Tony Lord (Dermot Mulroney) returns to his hometown to represent a friend (Michael Cudlitz), a teacher accused of killing one of his students. The case brings back painful memories for Tony, who was accused of murder himself as a teenager. Anne Heche and Judd Hirsch also star in this new mystery based on a novel by Richard North Patterson.
