A Daily Guide To Notable Shows
... Prophets of Science Fiction
10-11 PM Science
Sci-fi guru Ridley Scott turns his attention to the genre's original masters as an exec producer and talking head on this eight-part docuseries. Tonight focuses on Mary Shelley, whose 19th-century novel Frankenstein predicted everything from limb transplants and organ harvesting to forensic science and spinal-cord stimulation. It's fascinating stuff — if only the reenactments (fuzzy and cheesy) and Frankenstein film footage (all taken from 1994's Kenneth Branagh flop) weren't so laughable. Hopefully future installments on notables like H.G. Wells and George Lucas won't feel this silly.
