RAWHIDE - ENCORE WESTERN CHANNEL: MARATHON SUNDAY, JANUARY 1, 2012

'Rawhide,' the 1959 CBS TV series that ran for eight seasons, is premiering on the Encore Western Channel with a marathon on Sunday, January 1, 2012, and then will transition to daily broadcast.

Cattlemen drive their herds across the Great Plains in this iconic Western. Gil Favor (Eric Fleming) was the trail boss, assisted by Rowdy Yates (a breakout role for Clint Eastwood), with a great theme sung by Frankie Laine. After the series ended, Eastwood became a global superstar in a series of spaghetti Westerns for Sergio Leone.

Cast includes Clint Eastwood, Paul Brinegar, Steve Raines, Eric Fleming, James Murdock, Rocky Shahan, Robert Cabal, Sheb Wooley and William R. Thompkins.
