Exclusively from the South African set of Outcasts, What’s On TV caught up with Ugly Betty star Eric Mabius, who plays the mysterious Julius Berger in the BBC1 sci-fi drama...
... Can you fill us in a little more about your character Julius Berger?
EM: "He is a really fine character to play because he’s complex and we’re not really sure what his ultimate role will be on this new planet. He’s had a revelation, an epiphany, on the way to this new place. He’s definitely representing the spiritual awakening that happens in this new world. We’re not sure how it will manifest itself, but he’s definitely gathering a flock around him! He tries to help the citizens feel satisfied spiritually and reminds everybody that there are greater forces at work. He tries to inject faith. Julius is good at adapting to conditions on planet, and very good at reading people and situations, and knows how to capitalise on them..."
BBC's new series, "Outcasts," premiered on Monday, February 7 at 21:00 on BBCOne, and will also air in the US on BBC America [premiere date pending].
