Soon the brother’s suspicions are confirmed as their father hijacks radio and TV transmissions to relay the message that unless a certain Senator whom canceled his Defense Department contracts is handed over, the city of Washington D.C will suffer the consequences.

Remember when that sniper shot Beckett (Stana Katic) last season? So does Beckett. When a new sharpshooting psycho begins picking off (random?) New Yorkers, the detective must deal with her unresolved trauma and, in doing so, grapple with another source of psychic pain: the still-unsolved mystery of her murdered mother. The sniper stuff is riveting, but Beckett's twitchy, jumpy, and vertiginous experience of PTSD is less convincing. Like her, we're ready to move on.
